Yet another story, if a bit short, from Hum.
We were playing on NS_Nancy, which, to provide some background, is riddled with vents and is the same map that my little "defending the base" story comes from. Well, the previous game I had played had resulted in the marines rapidly siege turreting our team (I was alien at the time) into goo. So, I wanted vengeance. I joined in and we had two hives up. I meandered around as a bob, enjoying the speed as I spit parasites onto various marines, revealign their location to all my teammates <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> . And munchign occasionally. Well, After a standoff outside of the marine base, we finally smashed through their turrets with the aid of a level 5 as the 3rd hive came up. I died, as did the rest of my assaulting teammates. Upon respawning, Hida Tsuzua and Monse were level 5s, and monse suggests "Why don't you lead the way and Xenocide, weakening the enemy, and we'll follow and smash up everything else." (not in so many words, but I dotn remember the exact wording). Well, we head off toward the base as a level 4 and a level 3 are skirmishing outside of it. We reach the verge and one of my level5 buddies primal screams. I look up the ramp into the cokpit of NS_Nancy, and see no turrets. Heres my chance. My chance for Glory. I prepare the Xenoicide and click as I charge up the ramp. The warm up sound (a few seconds long) plays as all my energy is consumed, a sort of shrill bubbly noise, I whirl around the corner and nestle myself amongst the marien buildings and marines hiding out there. BAM! SPLATTER! Xenocide!. I see the deathmessages of all the marines there and, as my screen goes black, the bridge is empty. A message pops up "Team two has won the game". Ah, joyful joy of joyousness.

This was fun, if not really a game. The new build had recently come out and Me and Chrome were alone on the server early in the morning, playing with all the new toys and ogling the new art. Obviously, we go right to the top of the tech tree. Chrome is playing alien and I am Marine. We agree to not kill eachother for a while. Well, I reach the top of the tech tree on all counts except for getting HMGs and GLs. Chrome goes level 5, and we skirmish. Well, he kills me, as jetpacks finish researching. I respawn up in the command console and Chrome goes to his staging area to heal for another bout. He coems back, and again, Im ill prepared for him. I swoop in on jet pack, and see a crane thing hanging in the far end of the marien spawn. Meanwhile, chrome is blundering about eating my base and trying to kill me. I fly on to the crane and type "HAH HAH! I am on high ground! You cant touch me!!" I pull out my pistol as an expression of my disdain and begin to poke him with little pistol shots. He walks up to me and acts helpless, and than he jumps and chomps. As I type "####", chrome chipperly reminds me that "level 5s can jump". Well, he heads off again, at my begging, to heal. This time, I am smart. Kinda. I drop a shotgun, and three sets of five mines. I jump out and grab the shotty, loading 5 shells and then hurrying to mine up the door. I fill it in with all 15. Sure enough, chrome comes back and charges right through the mines, I zip upwards with my shotty and blast downward. Bam bam bam! I empty my shells. Flitting about like a bird. Well, my shotty runs out, and I throw it to the ground, landing as I do. I run to the crane area and fly above the area where the crane is suspended from and unload 1 of my 2 LMG clips into the #######. He backs away and I fly down and empty the second lmg clip as He charges me, I take off at the last minute and draw my pistol. I empty that little gun fast, and its obvious that he's running low on health. I am down to my trusty boot knife. I take off and jump jet over Chrome, landing behind him and slashing him good. At this point, I have reached a spastic rythm of jump jetting and knifing. I take off as he turns around and hit him again in the butt. I am shaking from the adrenaline. I take off, and accidentally take my hand off the space bar, fallign onto the level 5, I slash and crouch. Humbaba (kill symbol) ChromeAngel.
I suppose id chrome had been serious about killing me (IE, if it had been a real game), He could have dispatched me. And he gave up 2 opportunities to kill my only infanrty gate, making me lose. He spared me. But it was my first knife kill. Just goes to show you that your trusty knife might just save your butt.

Its good to know that you can have games where you just meet a small group of people and muck about. TFC is like that and its one of the things ive always liked about it.
It was, I guess MonsE thought it had enough exposere so it got unsticked, but it keeps popping back, which is a good thing IMO. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

I love the knife. Why waste ammo or risk having an empty clip when a horde of angry level 1s hove into view? Just take out enemy structures with your trusty blade.

Impressionable minds? I don't even listen to half of you all. I was told by a PT that the jetpack was taken out in IRC way back. I Posted it on the forums and I believe a blabber said that artwork was too much and that Flay decided to make it a 1.1 feature. It makes me wet my pants to know we have it back because I have seen quite a few shots of NS_Caged that make me want to relive my Tribes 2 days.

O.K. It is likely that you heard that jet packs were removed. It was heavily talked about on the playtest forums and, I'm sure, amongst the developement team. This is why we say STC. Nothing is taken out. Nothing is in. Everything is STC. Jetpacks are back. They were potentially gonners for a little while. Take everything said in these forums, with the exception of those said by the dev team, as STC. Even we playtesters dont know for certain what flay will do next, save that it will be whats best for the Mod and will make the Mod more fun.
