Gah, I can't play public TFC anymore. League courtesy rules have spoiled me on how the game should be played. No chasing, potshotting... snipers aren't necessarily prohibited, but seldom is a sniper a good defensive idea... everytime I'm running offense in pubs and some idiot medic doubles back behind me, shotgun blaring, a piece of me dies.
The whole concept of strict Offense/Defense separation is artificial and incredibly silly. Why shouldn't I be free to switch roles repeatedly if it's necessary?
This development in TFC should be a warning to all mod communities: This is what will happen if you let clueless people get away with changing the rules.
With the "No F4!" rule in NS, we're already on top of that slippery slope. Auto-resign on team imbalance was implemented for a reason. F4 is a normal way to signify your intention to resign a round you consider lost. If enough people do it, round is over. Would you rather have unmotivated players continue a round they have no interest in?
The only rules server admins are supposed to enforce is standard stuff like no spamming, no teamkilling etc. As soon as they do more, they've left their sphere of competence. If you have ambitions of making up rules, be a game designer and make your own game for us all to enjoy. Don't meddle with the rules other designers have created; there's a good chance you don't understand their game as well as they do.

And for about the third or fourth time that I've said it on this forum since you aren't reading the whole thing, THESE RULES ARE FOR LEAGUE PLAY! L-E-A-G-U-E. If you go back one page and read the stuff I posted maybe you'll stop flaming me.

I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul that get's kb'd for chasing an opponent down. Rather than blame the creators of the mod for not implementing a proper Offense and Defense mode where the classes ARE meant to do those roles, we'll just ban the player for not sticking to our little honour code. Yup, that'll show them who's boss.
I will play the game the way it was meant to be played. No honour code will stop me from capping a flag while I'm on 'defense'. No honour code will stop me from infecting players. No honour code will stop me from chasing your whiny little avatar down and killing him.

Yes, we're talking about pubbing, because most of us aren't in TFC clans. The rules we are discussing <b>are</b> intended for league play. However, due to the rampant elitism in league/clan play, it has infected the mindset of many public servers out there. What used to be considered a public server is now basically a public CLAN server. A server that plays just to have fun is much more difficult to find these days.

One of the best things about tfc is the chaos... And these annoying made up rules make the game boring!
If it went any further, the medic would have to ask the other team if he can take the flag.

Have two different parts of the map with Offense and Defense team members
