Given your knowledge now of how much effort has been put into programming NS so far: would you suggest that an aspiring mod-maker and school student take advantage of this coming summer to program in HL, or wait for the tools for Half-Life 2 and code during weekends? Assume HL2's mod tools will be of equal or better usability, and the plans for the mod will have programming be all of the work -- little or no new art, sounds, maps, etc.
[edit]To be more specific, let's say the plan is to start with something simple just to get familiar with the code: modifications to existing HL deathmatch physics and weapons.
Serious Question: Many people from VALVe Sofware LLC, claim that VALVe has learned alot from the Half-Life Modification community, can/will you comment on wether you have learned from VALVe or have they learned from you? If so, what is your experience with this community in general and with VALVe and other HL-MODs as a whole?

How difficult have you found game balancing, this includes, finding a group of alien and marine players with similar skill levels, and, finding ways in which a losing side can still fight effectively while still rewarding the winning team for their hard work?
When will first-person orientation going to be implemented?? (srry i cant spell) Do you think it will make it in the next release of NS or is it too early to tell?
Enough about Half-Life 2. If the Tribes 3 SDK is as fluent as it is said to be, and the game becomes a standard on many gamer's machines, would you consider working out a version of NS for that engine?

Will Fade get back to his melee roots? Will his beloved umbra cloud come back?
Will the marines get full animation? What animations are being redone? Is Fade keeping his cool jumping animation? Will the skulk's talons puncture the ground/floor/ceiling now? Will his bite be animated? Will all attacks become animated? Will the fades acid rocket animation be redone? Has lerk flying been made easier (i.e. lower inertia or a dash flap?)
Will the reloading issues for marines be fixed? (i.e. Having no ammo 0|0 and being forced to reload as soon as you recieve ammo)
Will somthing be done to simplify commander ammo drops? (either always loading primary weapon, or letting the soliders convert to the ammo type they wish.
Will Alien pop-up menu blurbs be modified? (i.e. when you press "Attack" everyone gets a message in the corner of their hud showing "Attack" followed by the players name and his location.)
Will offensive chambers get new projectile art? Will sensory chambers get a better static powerup (besides saying "The enemy approaches" when a marine enters it's LOS and parasiting on contact). Perhaps you could have it "smell" maries within 10 meters, or cloak alien structures/players in radius. Maybe they could create a "Gap Generator" effect for Observation Pings and Motion Tracking.
Will commanders be able to select troops from a list, or perhaps the Tab screen? (This would make my life a LOT easier)
Will the marine minimap be more clear, if not completely fixed? maybe remove all the blue except for the walls so the dot is discernable?
Will a more robust help/tutorial system be implemented for the 1.1 release? If so is there anything else being done to help new players learn and welcome more people to the NS community?
