Fan theory - Subnautica takes place in the portal / half - life universe!

Ok, this might be a long post, but I've found WAY TOO MANY references / similarties between the portal / half - life games and subnautica.

Part 1: The NS connection.

As you know, Natural Selection I was a mod for Half-Life. Half-Life and Portal take place in the same universe, and Natural Selection I and Subnautica take place in the same universe as well. One can naturally conclude that Subnautica and Half-Life / Portal also take place in the same universe as well.

Part 2: Evidence:

The propulsion cannon looks A LOT like the physics gun / gravity gun.

The spaceship you came on (which was installing a PHASEGATE) is called the aurora. The people in Portal 2 teleported a boat called the borealis.

Cave crawlers look a lot like headcrabs.

The intro to portal 2 with the "you've been asleep for 9... 9... 9.. etc" is a lot like the "estimated rescue arrival time: 9... 9... 9... etc".

That's all I've got for now. If anyone else has some, let me know.

These sound a lot more like vague nods to portal/halflife by the devs than actual evidence. And the cave crawlers are only very vaguely similar to headcraps.

Imagining starting a new game and your PDA was upgraded with the new OS. GLaDOS. And what having both Black Mesa and Aperture Science in this game.... Whoa.

Using the Transitive Property of Equality i can confirm they are in the same universe.
If NS1 was in the Half- Life universe, and NS2 was in the NS1 universe, and subnautica is in the NS2 universe, subnautica must be in the Half - Life universe.

There are some nods to your theory, but there are also some things to back up that the precursors became the borg. I've made a thread on that. However, it's unlikely that it's true.

To be honest, I would LOVE if Subnautica took place in the Portal/ Portal 2/ Half-Life/ Half-Life 2 Universe! I absolutely LOVE the Portal games, and this game is EASILY among it in my favorites!

Interesting theory, and one thing to add; for anyone questioning how headcrabs may have gotten to (and evolved water-breathing capabilities) the planet subnautica takes place on, think about this: the COMBINE created headcrabs. could it not be possible that the combine came to this particular planet to enslave the precursors? (and probably failed miserably, considering they can barely keep control of humans.)

another thing: The PDA also reminds me of glad0s and the announcer for the combine.

(Pointing out a flaw in my theory, and correcting it: the reason combine may have come to subnautica's planet is because it was probably not a bulk of the main force of precursor(s).)
