Out of Bounds suggestion

I noticed the idea of spawning in Sea Dragon Leviathans and Ghost Leviathans to dissuade players from venturing out of bounds. My first instinct would be to reach for the caps lock key and exclaim not to do this, but instead I will make the polite suggestion to avoid this if possible for a couple of reasons:

1. Having just recently made it to depths below 1000m in game, there was a real sense of achievement in discovering the new flora and fauna I hadn't seen before, and while the Sea Dragon Leviathan presented a real danger, there was that nice feeling of exploration and discovering the undiscovered that really validated going down into the depths of the alien ocean. At first glance it makes sense to have them inhabit the never-ending expanse of out of bounds, but it is going to ruin that sense of wonder and discovery when you do come across one in the Lava Zone (or wherever else they might appear, I haven't explored 100% of the map yet).

2. This leads me to my second point, it will have the opposite of the desired effect. Most players will be on the hunt for anything big and large precisely because they will want to interact with it (I can certainly see a few people trying to see how far out of bounds they can go before they get taken out). If the goal is to dissuade this behaviour, I don't think this will bring about the desired results.

Instead, I would suggest using warpers for the following reasons:

1. They are more common and less of a set piece than the Sea Dragon Leviathan and co.

2. You can spawn them in a close proximity to the player (perhaps even swinging distance), with the nature in how they traverse through warping, this makes sense as well. Optionally, you could even make it a mechanic that they might warp you back in bounds (though you would need to ensure that the player isn't warped inside a wall or any other object).

3. You could tie in a lore reason as to why they are trying to confine you within the limits of the game. I don't know too much this at this point as to what exactly warpers are and if they too, are aliens to the planet, but it could be another quarantine method to stop the spread of the virus.

I think this would work well as you would now have jumpscare material with warpers that are warping in to close proximity of the player and getting in some hits to try to prevent them from venturing too far out and a possible reason as to why they might be doing this.

Agreed, awesome idea, and makes sense with the in-game universe (if the infection hasn't spread beyond the local area, Warpers would indeed be trying to keep it there).

While I like the idea for its ingenuity, my only concern is that it goes against the current lore of the Warpers. So I propose a question that wouldn't contradict the lore but build upon it: What if there was more than one type of warper? Currently the ones in the game are programmed for one thing: to Search and Destroy any organism compromised by the Carar. What if there was a subset whose only objective was to contain the infection within a certain area to better triage the afflicted. All the Devs would really need to do to differentiate the two would be a palette swap too.

    *Corrected Grammatical errors.

The sith makes a good point. :) I'd be okay with it either way, but the palette-swap method might be more aesthetically pleasing to a wider audience.
