[Bug] Can't really play the game. [43604]

BahbelBahbel Join Date: 2017-02-22 Member: 228150Members
I basically can't play the game.

Issues I have:
  • No main menu background
  • No sound
  • No cinematic
  • When starting new Survival game there's no fire
  • I pickup extinguisher but it doesn't go to inventory
  • Accessing inventory messes up UI (can't close it, can't select any tab, items don't show)
  • Pressing "Esc" to bring up pause menu, opens it but no option works and I'm force to Alt+F4

What graphics card do you have and are the drivers up to date?

I'm running this on a laptop with a NVidia GTX950M. I was able to play for 10mins when I installed last night. It was late, I went to bed, tried to play today at lunch and that's what I got.

Please make sure you're running the latest Nvidia drivers, then run through our troubleshooting guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=448862051

Followed that troubleshooting guide. Installed/uninstalled the game like 3 or 4 times throughout the day. Tried with latest drivers and previous drivers. Multiple reboots between everything. Still having the exact same behaviour.

Bahbel, I note you are playing on stable version. Have you tried experimental?

If you don't want to try experimental I believe the next stable update is being release tomorrow (23rd); either one of those options may be of benefit to you.

Tried under experimental as well. I'm quite computer savvy (I'm a programmer by profession) so I kind of went around with most of the things I could think of, to no avail.. I so want to play this... :(

Made an account to say I am having the exact same issue as documented above. In addition, I can see bubbles above the ocean in the air going up in a straight line from the bubble corals, and if I go to the menu, it bobs up and down if I am under water, and doesn't let me click on anything. Back in Sept/Oct I was able to play successfully for many hours. I deleted all subnautica files, assuming that it was a compatibility issue. I have rolled back my drivers, gone through screenshots of Nvidia settings, disabled gsync, manually deleted subnautica files and reinstalled, updated windows, etc etc etc. Nothing has worked so far. My info:

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz
    RAM: 32724mb
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

Stab in the dark - try loading Windows in selective startup mode and not loading anything non-critical. Does it still have the same issue?

there is a small bug with lockers havent been fixed yet, but its easy fix for that.

Restart subnautica, or backpace and reopen the locker.

Did uh...did this black menu screen bug get fixed? I have had this exact bug and walked through all the "fixes" and still can't play it for over a month. There wasn't an update that made it happen. Played fine then suddenly an hour after logging off I started it up and it no longer plays nice.
