Gorge bhop in compmod isn't hard to pull off because you can just spam bellyslide and it's an inherent speed gain (it also looks quite strange). But I agree it's fun.
Doubt it would affect pub play that much. Gorges typically just build forts around random tunnels throughout the map. Not a whole lot of battle gorging/assisting in team fights until the bile spam starts.
It definitely is fun... and I would want it for that reason alone.

Babblers are still clunky to use as well, fun though seeing them little critters run amok without ANY danger to marines other than potential meat shield IF you get them tagged on them fast moving buddies of yours
Competitive Babblers, I'd like to see how that would work hehehe
Would love this in vanilla. Once you gorge in compmod, it's really frustrating to go back to brick gorge. I would definitely gorge more often if bhop avail in vanilla.
I would want to give player controlled babblers wallwalking, a movement speed of 20, 20 damage per bite, and one hit kill if they can land a bite on the marines head.

Babblers need the Urban Assault* mechanic:
-gorge makes babbler.
-commander takes 3D control of babbler.
-possesed babbler gets stronk(er) while commander plays it.
Fixes:
- alien commander less boring / more dynamic
- babblers more usefull
The gorge is buffed to make it more viable/fun to use in combat. Its not given some blanket stronger abilities like better babblers or hydras with more HP.
I think 'early' game aliens actually do need a bit of help, marines are quite strong. But then I consider when lerks pop the beginning of the 'midgame' in a sense.

lol @turtsmcgurt for a second there I thought you had nailed that clog save while falling into the pit.
Nice moves, it makes the gorge waayy more evasive

i go in and try to outjuke the marine early game.
any kind of mobility increase is a straight up buff.
5 and done baby. just pray to Jesus that their medpacks aren't on point.
make me real happy, and bring back rupture effects on successful spits.
The problem is even with well set up clogs, any engagement is pretty much do or die for gorges.
As a marine, I don't fear gorges in the slightest in public because they can't keep up into combat if I fall out and bait the skulks, and when the skulks are dead, the gorges have so little mobility beyond A-D-A-D-A-D.
I think this change will help against strong marine players who stomp easily.
I think this change will promote high skilled players to go gorge for fun.
I think that low skilled players will still struggle with 100% utilising the bhop (as they still fail with walljumping...) so it's not an across the board buff for aliens - just a higher skill ceiling.
I also think it'll allow more public gorges to be braver if they learn to use the bhop to exit engagements if they turn sour. This will help alien engagements early game, and God knows they need it on all these high player count servers.
You realllllly should not refer to it as 'bhop' IMO, even if just to avoid that connotation. All that is changed for the gorge movement in comp mod is a higher air control value, and lower air friction.
I'd upvote you if you post it in Ghoul's new feedback portal. Who knows, it might be the one that finally gets more votes than that closed entry that is not up for debate.
