Rather annoying?! Most games have it... I wonder why it looks annoying? Usually they do not have it spawn a light with every bullet fired.. but rather every 3 or so I think for the fully automatic weapons.

Or just have it be a separate option? I mean... I find it strange that it any one would have a problem with it. It makes recognizing marines and their shooting more simple. Also whilst making the game generally look more visually interesting.
Not everyone plays the game on low with no textures at 640x480 to have a competitive advantage. I enjoy NS2s aesthetics quite a bit while playing.

I am highly in favor of Ironhorse's suggestion
every 3rd or so is how real tracers are set up.
This would mean I'd have to use low particles though, which makes a lot of effects worse visually (as has been my experience...).
