Destro and Hang-Loose have served in the capacity of Commander with good success and brought much fortune to the Marine cause.
However, <i>Rollings</i> is the Colonel of Colonels when it comes to Commanders. Seemingly able to take the chair and reverse certain defeat into a decisive Kharaa rout .

He commanded 2 maps. On the first map -Hera- we had a change of 3 commanders, and he took the seat as the 3rd one. The others had to leave (game). We were doing pretty decent and -thanks to the first 2 commanders- we took 2 hives. Mere skulks and lerks are no match for HMG + HA <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> so we won that round.
On the second map- Nancy - was the real sh*t. He took on the sit again and build the standard basic building sequences. We encountered 1 or 2 skulks over at the bridge but that is all at the start. We were beginning to wonder where ALL (yes its a 24 player server) the other 10 or so skulks were doing. Secured the node a little further from the bridge. Then we proceeded to MESS HALL. It was blood bath there...skulks dropping all over the place. imagine 10 <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> getting into the hall and getting waylaid by <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> . But we secured that area, and soon, the nameless hive. By then, we still haven't got any tech yet. No HMGs or HA. hell not even motion sencing. What we had, were our team mates. He made it a point to stick together so that he will look over us as we get to our wps.
Then, our hive base got assaulted by fades. That means the kharaa has 2 hives up. At the same time, we had lost mess hall and it was swept clean by the infestation. The com knew how important mess hall is, sticking right in the center of a resource struggle between the 2 hives and our base, we build <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo--> along the corridor to messhall. So basically, the com is dealing with 11 marines asking for health and attention as well as dealing with 10 (give and take a few) aliens assaulting from 2 sides. He divided our forces between the siege at mess and the hive base. It seemed we are about to lose everything...
It was a bad idea. Normal Infantry with LMGs dont stand long against the fades acid rockets. The mess hall hit a climax as marines hide behind sieges and turrets , getting killed as the next takes over. Somehow, the fades in messhall got slaugthered by the splash dmg dished out by 6 <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo--> . We finally got mess hall back, and the nameless hive barely. ( he made a phase gate there and that could be the deciding factor)
Knowing full well that the fades will return and driven by desperation, we suggested to him that he gives out HA as well as HMG and some welders as resoruces permit. Using that strat, we managed to kill a substantial amount of fade onslaughts. The heavy guys upfront chasing down fades as the lighter infantry repairs their armour. I was one of the few given a HA as well as a HMG and believe it or not, our little squad cleared a corridor of THREE fades as my team mate welded us from behind. fades are not impossible as long as they are near, they got so close it was melee range. But ultimately, the high ROF of the hmg persevered over their clawed attacks.
As our squad met up with the 2nd squad, i saw 6 guys in HA and HMG and a couple of others with just welders. With welders, we lasted really long and after taking the 2nd hive, it was all about hunting down the last skulks as the last hive died down.
So it boils down to marines sticking together, some equipped with welders. Others equipped with HA and HMGs and a com that listened. I guess it worked both ways, and it all happened in a public game. hell, it was the most fulfilling marine game ive played after 1.01
The marines won the game because they work as a team, whoever said anything about NS being unbalanced? Your so wrong.

Like... Good Skulks, (Because they are generally quite rare) Fade skills (As I've posted b4, I play very differently when Fade to others even on here) Decent Light Armour Marines - Esp Late game(Because ANYONE can be good with a HMG & Armour FFS!)
Sneaky b@stards vs Combat machines. I've seen some REALLY sneaky Marines around (yesterday, 3 marines with jetpacks kept building their factories up near the roof, took ages to find em!)
I don't know how, I don't know why, but he rips into marines like hes got god mode on or something.
I've seen him take down two heavies ALONE (as I was cowering behind a pillar as a gorge lol).
His best streak was 19 kills without a death as a skulk... that I've seen him play anyway <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I regret to say that I haven't had a single competent commander above me. Every game I play, the commander follows the usual turtle-the-main-base strategy, and every game, marines lose.
But this makes me more glad than sad, because it gives me the ability to show a bunch of Commander-hopefuls how to really play the game. The only times I ever lose a game (all in public servers with unknown people, no less) is when my marines flat-out REFUSE to follow my orders. Otherwise, I find my ways (HMG's to people who go to this waypoint! Serious!). I've been called a genius by quite a few people =). It'd be bad for me to vote for myself - don't think it's even allowed - so I'll just hope SOMEONE recognizes me from a match I have commanded and gives me the respect I deserve =)

But this makes me more glad than sad, because it gives me the ability to show a bunch of Commander-hopefuls how to really play the game.
