@Ironhorse, after fiddling around I realized what it was. My modem needed a good reset is all. I couldn't connect to mumble, teamspeak, or anything with a server ip so I fiddled around and figured it out, thank you for your help Ironhorse ^_^
Hi! I just bought NS2 yesterday. I´m trying to connect to servers, but the connection fails repeatedly. There´s only little chance to find a server that works. This is only a NS2 experience. If I play other games on steam it works just fine. I am connected wireless. Please help! Greetings from Austria, I love this game!

@mattei707
Have you seen the first page of this thread and tried the suggested fixes regarding flooding?
What are your router /modem brand names?
Can you provide another log of where you fail to connect? That log you gave doesnt show you attempting to connect to anything, just getting to the main menu
@imnub
Interesting to note that the second screenshot shows 100% Choke. Choke occurs when the server, factoring in your rate setting, determines that it can't send you an update yet because doing so would start to flood your connection.
Notice in your screenshots it shows "messages sent" and "messages received" are both 0?
What is your network setup? wired or wireless?
Have you ensured you are the only one on your connection?
Like i just suggested to matt above, have you tried the flooding suggestions on page 1?
NS2 sends a lot of data due to entity counts.. things like structures and players and AI.. are all entities.
You can easily reach 1,000 entities in a round and that increases network traffic to the client.
Some routers and modems are sensitive to this larger amount of data, so ensure any flooding protection is disabled increase any firewall thresholds

Hi Iron Horse! I´ve tried to find the right configuration of my router. I´m using a Technicolor TG788 provided by A1 in Austria. It justed worked fine. I just had to go to the Toolbox and assign "steam games" to my computer. Now it´s all good and i can play on every server i choose. thx for the reminder to look up the first post more closely (thought the problems just occured on thompson devices)!
