Are you 100% sure it is the driver and not the game? Can you be 100% sure that the game isn't at fault?

Erm, isn't that a common problem related to forced Anti-Aliasing in Catalayst...? Setting it to "application settings" should fix it...

Why the useless negativity Konata? That won't help anyone one bit.

It's not negativity. It's ascertaining certainty. I remember Obraxis telling someone to update their BIOS to make sure NS2 worked better at one point.

It's beta software. Beta software is normally the main fault for anything that goes wrong with the beta software.

If that's news to you, I'd recommend you stop using beta software.

He's talking about updating the graphics driver and others are talking about disabling AA in the driver's control panel.
Even some released games have problems with old drivers or drivers trying to force AA on them, it's really not too much to ask.

And still, as I said, claiming "it's beta, you can't do anything" won't help anyone.

I stand by all my comments. This is probably a driver issue. I didnt say it was definitely one, I said it was most likely.

If new drivers do not help then there are other things to try before you can say "it's the beta software". If it was a common occurrence then I would agree, but it seems that either forced AA is turned on in the drivers, or the person's drivers are out of date (which seems most likely, especially as they're running a laptop).

If anyone here gets a consistently playable framerate (ie >30FPS 99% of the time, on... anything >800x600/lowest detail), what are your specs, out of curiosity?

*bows down to the clear winner of NS2 performance*

I got 130fps.

I am not entirely sure >30FPS 99% of the time is possible. At least it doesn't appear to be from my experience. (I play at 1920x1080)

I have what appears to be a stable 50-60 FPS most of the time, but it frequently dips below 30FPS in any combat.

I have:
i7 920 @ 4.2ghz
12GB RAM
AMD 5850 @ 920mhz
(with NS2 running from an SSD)

It is definately playable, but it still feels bad even with my PC.

I wish Jesus was beta software, then I could blame everything on him...
