    I fail to see how TF2 and CS:S's perspective is any better. to be honest, it doesn't matter since you don't use the guns perspective to know where you are aiming anyway. =P

    Next, people will be complaining about no Iron Sights.

    Also, the model thing could be because of widescreen and non-widescreen modes, non-widescreen make use the same perspective as the widescreen view no? That's just a guess though, I honestly don't care at this point. The media is all good and the model is excelent. Some origin reworking is to be expected: not everything is perfect from the get go.

    If it ejected to the left like that, the marine shooting would get his face burned with red-hot shells flying at him.

    Right now, thats a left handed rifle. Fix please. <img src="http://naturalselection.de/images/smilies/ednk/icon_rolleyes.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    it makes no difference what side the brass ejects from unless its a bullpup weapon (which it obviously isnt). the m4 ejects from the right even when you fire left handed.

    in the video he's firing from the hip anyway so theres no chance of brass hitting him in the face

    Zex, your constant whining and complaining is only detrimental. It annoys people of the community, and affects nothing about NS2. What do you hope to accomplish, anyway? You want to make everyone "wake up" and decide that UWE is full of crap and fully abandon this promising game?

    For the record, I don't know what this quoted part of your post even means. You're claiming that you've never heard anyone else state that UWE's way of doing things is full of crap, and since you're the only one noticing this, using backwards-ass logic, you're... smart? Correct? You're running up going "NO ONE ELSE SHARES MY OPINION" and this is supposed to make you right in the end?

    And also, you're wrong anyway. The tools that they are releasing are part of the tools they're using to develop the game, and as they said, certain fixes for the tools, such as compatibility issues, are important for the game.

I am ignorant of that. I've never heard it.

    Also, firing shells out of the left side of the gun is silly. The cool factor is still there if its ejecting brass to the right, because not only does it not distract your field of view with flying shells, you still see the cartriges ricocheting off walls, etc, and you see other characters who are not ejecting shells into their own face. I'm not a gun nerd or anything, but I can still see the logic in doing it the correct way.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    You have completely misread what I said. The tools were redesigned, so one set is redundant and you now have the current set.

    I can't wait for the day these forums are locked so you guys have to find sonewhere else to whine and be overly semantic.

    My friend Killerratte asked me to post this drawing, to express his feelings about the Ammo Ejection issue:

    *there are nice ways of expressng your disagreemnt. This is not even close to one of them* --Comprox

    lol i suppose next people will complain about the use of the "BLOOM/BLUR" to simulate tears on your screen from the brass hitting you in the face :)

    Let's cut out the personal insults guys. NS2 is not a realism game by any stretch of the imagine and will sacrafice some realism for the 'cool' factor.

    I'm saying it doesn't make sense to me that a developer would make 2 different toolsets that do the same thing while a game is still in production, and that the only person I've heard say that is our friend Thaldarin. I also qualified my statement by saying that I don't know anything about game development (lol) so for all I know this is a perfectly reasonable way of doing things. But it doesn't make sense to me personally.

    edit: also, i thought the cartoon of a marine hitting himself in the face with shell casings was harmlessly funny and chibi (cute). but I agree some people should try to avoid personal attacks and insults.

    Indeed. Too bad that noone else can form an opinion about it now.

    I'd be glad to provide a link to the drawing via PM to anyone interested though. ;)

    Um, no. I'm not exactly talking about position on the horizontal plane. I'm referring to how drastic of an angle that the gun is at. Also, I'm referring to how you don't see the top of the LMG very much despite the implied perspective that they're shooting "from the hip." If the weapon is that low you'd see less of the left side and more of the top. Nevermind the size, the Crysis model below nails the the angle and perspective almost perfectly.

    <!--quoteo(post=1748904:date=Jan 24 2010, 08:37 AM:name=Brute)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Brute @ Jan 24 2010, 08:37 AM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=1748904"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--><img src="http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/3442/weaponalignment.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Exactly. I've been an artist all my life and any other 2-d/3-d artist can tell you that you learn how to "see" analytically. It just plain looks wrong to my eyes which tells me that there's something funky going on with the perspective.

    Also, the reason why I brought this up is that it was brought up a number of months ago; yet here we are with a new video and a still-screwed-up gun perspective. I don't care that it's just a demo of the engine. What reason do we have to believe that the Devs paid attention the first time this concern was voiced?

    Back then Cory or Max replied with a forum post and said it was just a matter of setting a few variables.
    Now I understand that this looks like it's easy to fix.
    I can only tell you from my own experience that simple changes like this are often ignored in favor of working on the real problems, e.g. finishing the game. They probably have a list of minor tasks that will be done shortly before release.
