I don't see how giving *women* breasts would identify them as sexual objects... all the women I know have boobs. It's in the eye of the beholder really.
I'm curious to see how you could streamline the heavy armor and the jetpack armors... I always thought Jetpacks should do more than just add a piece of equipment to the marines back... perhaps make heavy armor even larger and more mechanical looking?

The issue isn't whether female characters are accurately afforded breasts. Doing so does not identify women as sexual objects, that lies in how the character is portrayed. You have the option of giving her full body armour, sensibly protecting all of her body in exactly the same way as the male marines, or you could sexualise her, putting her breasts or other flesh on display. Which would be totally unnesscessary in context, not to mention dangerous in a combat situation, but it would also be deliberately reducing her to the status of a sexual object and robbing her of legitimacy when compared to the more seriously attired male marines. In which case, the only purpose of adding female characters would be to titillate, leaving a character that the majority of women have no way of identifying with and is only there for some men to leer at. By doing this, UWE would be effectively saying "we don't take women seriously". I doubt they'd want to do that.
Yes, certain things are in the eye of the beholder, but this is an issue of how characters are portrayed. Particularly in light of the thread about attracting women gamers, a move towards making the female characters sexual objects would be damaging, and would simply serve to maintain the status quo in which women aren't taken seriously in a large section of the gaming world, either as characters or as players.

my question is - Will different TSA player models have an effect on game play - even if ever so slight. E.g. African marines are taller, female marines are shorter. or The female marine has 5% less health than the caucasian male marine, but builds 10% faster, the african marine has 10% more health the caucasian marine, runs a bit faster, has a better aim with the shotgun, but not so good with the lmg? that kinda thing?
Or will there be a slider in the player options that lets you choose your height? which could vary from say 5" to 7" HA of course would be one size fits all
i seriously think the idea of giving the basic models another uniqucation (word?) would be interesting. like suggested above (walking faster/building faster/less noisy/etc)

I'm sorry if this comes off as PC, but I really think that basing some bonuses based off of sex or color would be a huge mistake. Not every person with dark skin is tall, not every woman less tough or more skilled.
If you do need such bonuses, I suggest to attribute those right to the type of armor and any customizations to that armor, not the character beneath it. My quick ideas on it are Ninja, Light/Basic, Medium/Engineer/Medic, Jet, and Heavy.

I think this is just where it gets unessecary RPG side. I'm not saying having that aspect in the game world would not be nice for some people. I'm sure many would like the option to change thier charactor setup to suit thier playstyle. I just don't think enough people would make use of it. Different models I like, variety is a good thing. However the need to change to much on the user end I believe may just be unessecary. I could be wrong though and I am sure if enough people asked for the option to setup how they look as a Marine or a Fade or an Onos I am sure it would be added at some point. Really though how likely are you to notice the Onos with the broken tusk and the scars as opposed to the normal model in most battles?

NS2 is probably going to be about as hardcore as a hardcore game gets. Hardcore female gamers might play it, but average women? Uh...no.
Will different TSA player models have an effect on game play - even if ever so slight.
Or will there be a slider in the player options that lets you choose your height? which could vary from say 5" to 7"
HA of course would be one size fits all

Women
Short people
Tall people
Even over weight guy who can’t fit into his armour any more because of too many Mars burgers at the Mars fly-in.
