<i>Very few people are aware of one simple fact of the universe: Their world is not unique.
Between worlds, departed spirits float. Separated from their corporeal existences, these spirits seek another purpose, almost always in another form, on another world.
However, this is not always the case. Once in a while, an errant spirit, whether holding a grudge against a world or merely wishing to see events unfold after their release, will watch.
Of course, not all worlds are equal. Some are far more advanced than others, and some are lifeless, or at least close to it. A few worlds even have the capability to travel to other worlds, and one in particular has been performing experiments on spirits caught in the Void... </i>
==================================================
"We've got another one."
"Another spirit with the Omega Marker?"
These two scientists were part of their world's Death Department, a division that dealt specifically with death and how to overcome it, if possible.
"It's a perfect match." "Well, what are we waiting for, then? Materialize it!"
The two of them had been given authorization to use a special means of cheating death: the Spirit Materializer. The main issue with it was that you never knew exactly whose spirit you would be reincarnating, as there was no way of identifying spirits as of yet. There were Spirit Collectors, which would seem to catch spirits seemingly at random, but identifying spirits was still a troublesome task.
However, identifying spirits wasn't necessary for the two scientists; they were in a laboratory hidden under a mountain to research the Omega Marker. The Omega Marker was attached to a spirit; usually giving a tendency to crave power, and often it would bestow supernatural powers to the form the spirit was taking. Some had it naturally, others had it forced onto them. A rare few had accepted it, knowing their power.
The Marker also was detectable: these two scientists had a prototype scanner specifically for detecting the Marker. The two scientists had already re-materialized hundreds of wandering spirits bearing the Marker. The scientists were working on a way to eliminate the Omega Marker. They would be able to protect their world against dangerous criminals, many of who had been able to start a rampage solely due to the Marker's influence.
However, a number of test subjects attempted to escape, and were thus... disposed of. No group of specimens had escaped yet; while there was a route to the surface, just in case, no group had ever managed to cooperate long enough to escape. In fact, the (rather light) defenses weren't necessary, as all of the groups thus far had killed each other in the process.
One of the scientists connected the Spirit Collector to the Spirit Materializer and activated the process, setting the body to materialize in the holding room with the other specimens. Currently, there were fifteen of them, and their newest member made sixteen.

A few minutes later, <b>Ana</b> awoke, the last thing she could remember being a massive fall, seeing the ground rush toward her...
And now she was in a perfect half-sphere carved out of rock, with a number of other people standing around her, a curious glint in their eyes...

==================================================
A few minutes after <b>Ana</b> arrived, things settled down again. Some sort of ration packs and water containers were teleported into the cell a few minutes later, allowing <b>Ana</b> to introduce herself to everyone.
The first person she talked to was <b>Theslan</b>. The man looked like he had been through a war.
Talking to <b>Theslan</b> for a bit, <b>Ana</b> learned that he was originally part of a treasure-hunting expedition. However, after repeated ambushes by pirates, he had eventually turned against his fellow crew members with the support of a few others. However, the last thing he could remember was having a boulder falling towards him, similar to how <b>Ana</b> remembered falling toward the side of a mountain...
Halfway through their chat, <b>semipsychotic</b> joined in, being part of the same crew as <b>Theslan</b>, at first. However, eventually he got lost from the group and was attacked in a woods, before waking up in this room.
<i>The two scientists, however, were still working while <b>Ana</b> was getting acquainted. After ensuring that she would be healthy, they dispensed the rations per schedule and continued working.</i>
==================================================
A few hours later, <b>Ana</b> had talked to almost all of the other people in their room - at least, to the extent that some of them <i>were</i> people.
Case in point, the dog-like creature who called himself <b>Xentor</b> and the similar-looking, sleek predator known as <b>Eternaly_Lost</b>. <b>Ana</b> was almost stupid enough to try to talk to both of them at once, assuming that they were friends. The only thing that stopped her from doing so was <b>Eternaly_Lost</b> diving at <b>Xentor</b>, missing by an inch as the skulk (as <b>Ana</b> would later learn) leaped out of the way.
Both of their voices were metallic, almost as though their speech was being translated and replayed by a computer. The last thing <b>Xentor</b> could remember was being shot, then exploding due to his own biology; whereas the Gorge Eater <b>Eternaly_Lost</b> remembered a vicious fight against a number of creatures called Gorges (<b>Xentor</b> leapt at <b>Eternaly_Lost</b> at this point, but got swatted away) when suddenly he saw a bright light wash over him, at which point he woke up.
<i>The two scientists didn't have much to do while they were waiting for more spirits to be collected with the Omega Marker. Instead, they took scans of the cell with the sixteen specimens, and continued their work to disable the Omega Marker... They had already made some progress, but not much. The maniacal tendencies were eliminated in three out of four specimens, but the powers were still entirely intact.
The treatment had already been applied to the current group, but there was no way to know which of them were under the Marker's influence or not...</i>
==================================================
<b>Ana</b> also talked to the trio of <b>Thansal</b>, <b>tjosan</b>, and <b>Soul_Rider</b>. The three men were sitting, playing poker against each other.
The three men had a similar appearance, the largest exception being <b>tjosan</b>. While <b>Thansal</b> and <b>Soul_Rider</b> had shaggy hair, almost as though it hadn't been cut in weeks, <b>tjosan</b> was flat-out bald. The three of them did have minute differences though. <b>Soul_Rider</b>'s eyes were a fear-inducing shade of red, <b>Thansal</b> had scars on his arms that looked almost like bit marks, and when <b>tjosan</b> grinned, one could see a set of glistening fangs...
The three of them obviously were distracted with their game, just giving <b>Ana</b> information so she'd leave them alone. <b>Thansal</b> remembered being stabbed from behind, tired after chasing an accomplice of his killer. <b>tjosan</b> was undercover within a group attempting to clear a mine; he had attempted to control a basilisk in the mine, trying to pacify it. However, the other members of his group misinterpreted his intentions, and shot him, believing him to be a traitor.
<b>Soul_Rider</b>, at the time, was working within a mansion undercover for a deadly "game", as his "master" had called it. What his "master" had neglected to mention was that the house was rigged with explosives. His targets escaped, he wasn't so lucky.
<i>After some time passed, the two scientists set the Spirit Collector up for another capture. A few seconds later, the device let out an audible noise, indicating that a spirit had been collected. That wasn't unusual, but not all the spirits the device captured had the Omega Marker, so the scientists began to scan the spirit inside...</i>
==================================================
<b>Ana</b> walked up, a few minutes later, to another trio of men discussing various firearms. For some reason, their equipment had survived the trip with them, and the three of them took advantage of the opportunity to brag, not that anyone else enjoyed listening to them.
<b>Comprox</b> was dressed in a black combat outfit, and was showing the other two his combat pistol. While less advanced that the other two weapons, he was also the most modest, taking no credit for the various features which were obviously not part of the weapon's original design. He was also the most willing to talk to <b>Ana</b>, explaining that he was part of a group sent to wipe out a biological weapons facility, but there were spies among the group, and apparently everyone else in the group had believed <b>Comprox</b> to be one of them, so a number of them jumped him during an earthquake...
<b>TheFeniX</b> was an oddity. While he had what looked like a plasma rifle, by far the most advanced weapon among the three of them, he seemed to lack the knowledge of how to use it. After a few questions by <b>Ana</b>, he relented; he was actually a member of a shape-shifting alien species, and this form was just one of many he could assume, provided he had the DNA of said form. Talking to <b>Ana</b>, he revealed that he was part of a scouting force attempting to gain information about a human vessel. He was trying to make way to his ship to establish contact when an accident occurred and the escape pod slammed into his ship at a high speed.
<b>the_x5</b> held a light machine gun, and was wearing green-tinted armour. When asked by <b>Ana</b>, he replied "Sucked into space.", and answered no other questions, keeping a close eye on <b>Xentor</b> and <b>Eternaly_Lost</b>, who were glaring at each other from other sides of the room.
<i>The scientists scanned the newly collected spirit for the Omega Marker. Waiting a few minutes, they had their result: a positive match, which was interesting, considering no two spirits bearing the Marker had been found so fast, let alone back-to-back...</i>
==================================================
<b>Ana</b> took note of the creature who called himself <b>Nightstalker</b>. He was pacing from one end of the room to the other, passing between <b>Xentor</b> and <b>Eternaly_Lost</b>'s staring contest as he did so. He walked one end of the room as a human... then walked back as a creature that <b>Ana</b> could only describe as being made out of pure darkness, claws long enough to be dragging on the ground as he walked.
<b>Ana</b> then walked over to talk to <b>Isamil</b>, who let her know that he was part of the same group as <b>tjosan</b>, but was crushed by said basilisk before it could be killed. "It's a pity," he said, "There were so few of us remaining at the time that the paycheck was huge for those who made it back. Guess it was a bit bigger for them..."
After talking with <b>Isamil</b>, <b>Ana</b> was approached by <b>Faskalia</b> and <b>Planetkiller</b>. The two of them were a pair of very powerful wizards, and seeing as how <b>Ana</b> was asking everyone else what they remember before arriving here...
The two of them were part of an attack force to liberate the Portal of - actually, <b>Ana</b> wasn't sure <i>what</i> it was called, since the word that followed didn't seem to be part of any language, and some parts of it didn't even sound like they were made with a human mouth. Regardless, the two wizards were killed in the fight, and didn't know what happened to the Portal after that. <b>Ana</b> took note of the fact that <b>Faskalia</b> was wearing white robes with a black trimming, and <b>Planetkiller</b> the opposite, black robes with a white trimming.
<i>The scientists eagerly connected the Spirit Collector to the Spirit Materializer. Turning the device on, the body started to materialize...
Right next to the two scientists.</i>
==================================================
The two scientists immediately grabbed their sidearms, and setting them to stun, launched two bolts of energy at the creature that had just emerged. However, instead of stunning it, they were merely absorbed. Despite looking humanoid, the body appeared to be made of a black ooze, spiked and with tentacles emerging from some areas.
The Stalker became invisible, causing the two scientists to worry.
"Computer, flood main lab with formula IP-0796!" One of the scientists shouted to the lab's main computer. Formula IP-0796 was a general-use invisibility purging gas, and one of the few safe for use in areas with humans in them.
However, nothing appeared, and the scientist which had shouted to the computer found himself flying across the room, into a set of control panels.
==================================================
<b>Ana</b> sat down on the floor, thinking she had met everyone. She hadn't, however, she had missed one person, who sat down beside her.
<b>im_lost</b> looked at <b>Ana</b>, and asked a simple question, "Any idea what happened to them?"
"Them" was obviously their infiltration team. Out of the five members, <b>Ana</b> was the third to die, and she could clearly remember <b>im_lost</b>'s death, from a massive fireball. <b>Ana</b> shook her head.
"Why did he even warp that dragon into their base, anyway? He <i>knew</i> we were in there!" <b>Ana</b> started venting to <b>im_lost</b>, looking him in the eyes with a renewed anger.
"Well, I don't know, perhaps he meant to cause a distraction. We <i>did</i> arrive early, after all," <b>im_lost</b> replied, voice as unwavering as ever.
<b>Ana</b> let out a slight sigh, "I guess so. Did we get brought here when we die? Is this... hell?"
<b>im_lost</b> shook his head and gave his own opinion, "I doubt it. Remember, lolfighter died before me. The other people here also remember being with comrades helping them achieve their goals, most of which also died before they did. If this was hell, we'd certainly be seeing more than a few of them here." <b>im_lost</b> took a breath and continued, "Speaking of which, I wouldn't trust all of the stories they give you."
"Why not?" <b>Ana</b> looked shocked. While she was used to having to cover up her own motives, she wasn't used to others trying to do the same.
"Would you be entirely honest about what <i>we</i> were doing before we got here? Infiltrating a last hope of free countries to make way for an omnipotent dark lord?" <b>im_lost</b> was prevented from speaking more, however, as an alarm klaxon starting ringing in the cell...
==================================================
"Computer, set base to self-destruct, authorization Theta-Upsilon-Upsilon-Gamma-One-Five! Full erasure, five minute countdown!"
The two scientists were getting severely hurt from the invisible Stalker, and they didn't know what other powers the creature was given from the Omega Marker. Their main priority now was just survival with their research data.
As the two of them ran off to a teleport platform, they disappeared in a flash of light, no longer located on this world...
==================================================
All of a sudden, in the cell, a perfectly round tunnel suddenly appeared on one side of the wall, with a computerized voice declaring, "Self-destruct in four minutes fifty-five seconds. All security defenses deactivated. Follow standard evacuation procedures."
None of them knew what "standard evacuation procedures" were, but it certainly didn't include the mad dash for the exit that everyone in the cell was a part of.
The tunnel was featureless, and opened up onto the side of a mountain. The non-humans in the group reached the exit first, with everyone else just behind them. Everyone waited outside the tunnel, waiting for something to happen, when the tunnel disappeared into solid rock, much the opposite of how the exit tunnel had appeared in the first place. A muffled explosion could be heard, and a small earthquake which shook most of them up.
There the group was, surrounded by a thick forest, and began silently discussing what to do next... when a rumble started from the slope above them.
"AVALANCHE!" <b>tjosan</b> shouted out, rushing into the forest. Everyone followed him, even those who could deflect boulders. Partially because they didn't want to lose track of the group, and partly because being caved in isn't very comfortable, even if you're not being actively crushed.
The group met later in a clearing, to a fire started by <b>Faskalia</b>. They all sat around the fire, contemplating what to do next, where they are...
"Wait a second," <b>Comprox</b> suddenly realized, "Where's <b>Soul_Rider</b>?"
==================================================
The Stalker became visible again on the top of the mountain that the group had just exited, badly damaged by the explosion. It had just consumed the barely-living body of <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->Soul_Rider<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>, caught in the avalanche. As it regenerated, it began to peer into its victim's memories, and tested its victim's powers...
It could sense living prey further in the forest... However, it could also smell a far weaker group of travelers on the other side of the mountain...
It would heal using the bodies of the weak. Then, it would steal the powers of the unworthy...
The Stalker became invisible once again, and descended the slope away from the group of escapees, preparing for a feast.

Day One will end Friday, August 3rd, at 5 PM EST.
The wolves killing Soul_Rider raises a few issues. He was almost without a doubt the MVP of last game. Without his constant pressure on the wolves and pretty much brilliant planning, we probably would have been boned.
His death leads me to believe someone from last game is a wolf. Wow, thrilling deduction though. I've just implicated half of the current game. <b>We're really narrowing things down now.</b>
In retrospect, as I've just spent this post stating the blindingly obvious, I'll withhold voting until a bit later.
Hopefully one of the seers is starting the network. Knowing our luck, I bet both seers may have checked 2 of the wolves... or seered the same person who is a wolf. -.-;
We need information, any information. As of right now, this is random vote. Since im lost didn't start with the voting (or posting), I'll start it off. I vote on <b>Ana</b> due to issues of the last game. Purely psuedo-random.
Ok... so wolves went from 2 to 4 because there are 16 (now 15) players playing. -.-;
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It went from 3 wolves to 4.
...
Not a good reason, but it better then a random.org vote right now.
That and why is im_lost not voting? He always the first post and first vote.
ummmm
Random.org SAYS:
9 [b]Isamil[/b[
This is a temporary marker as I am not sure what my status will be tomorrow, I will change my vote when/if It seems needed.
(actually random.org said 3, but I decided against adding a vote to some one who already had one so I told it to re roll <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)
and life says I fail it
<b>Isamil</b>
Note: I'm not suggesting a single person bandwagon, there needs to be a little spread, but 16 people with a vote each tells us nothing.
Nice point Planetkiller, though that does seem like a nice recurring topic every game. People seem to think that Ana sucks at lying, so it seems like she would be a bad choice for a random day 1 death.

I'm not surprised at the first person that decided on a second vote (Planetkiller), but the fact that TheFeniX and Xentor jumped on to the idea is interesting. Then again, chances are that one of the people with 2 votes is a wolf, so the response should be interesting.

Personally, I don't think that the idea of focusing on a few players works all THAT well as a way of gathering info.
<strike>Zombies</strike> Wolves (playing to much ZM <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />) are not likely to reveal them selves by swapping votes to save one of their own, it is just to obvious. We have 2 votes on 4 people, at this point we, based on probability, have 2 votes on a wolf, and also a good chance that we have a roll in there and 2 humans. The only problem is that we have no way of knowing that these votes WERE random chance. The people placing the second vote to 'go along with the plan' could have easily been wolves, heck Planet could be a wolf who suggested consolidating votes knowing that no wolves have votes on them yet (I am not accusing, just putting up possible scenarios).
So let us say the votes stay something like this for the rest of the day (4 way tie). At the end we will see one of 2 things:
1) A last min vote swap. in an attempt to save them self.
2) Nothing.
#1 LOOKS wolfish, but is it really? it could be a human trying to save them self, it could even be a seer doing his/her best to help the humans by staying alive! Heck, I think it is LEAST likely that it is a wolf, as wolves KNOW it will look bad.
#2 is more likely I think. No one WANTS to look wolfish, ESPECIALLY wolves, so every one just trusts to the odds (assuming we actually got a wolf, this is a rather good bet for them, 1 in 4?).
Now, what info do we have from this? In #1, some one looks wolfish, but are they? no clue, might as well kill them any way.
With that in mind we end up at #2. Some one randomly dies, no info gained. The response to this is that 'well, we can look at voting patterns and make tie ins with whom voted for whom. My counter argument to this is that we have no way of knowing if the wolves tweaked the odds or not.
All in all, I think it is a shoddy plan, but I will go along with it. Why? B/c if I change, I look wolfish.
Oh, random note, looking back at past games it seems that the people that go against the 'proposed plan' end up being humans <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
all in all, if any one ends up with 3 votes, I will end up shifting my vote. (or if some one can give me a good reason to).

<i>/me gets ready to laugh when the tie-breaking vote for today is placed on thenslan</i>
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Here's my reasoning:
The votes were pretty spread out the first day last game. Eternaly_Lost (being a wolf and me knowing this because I seered him the first night) was running into a random lynch due to his tie with doomchica. Nightstalker threw the vote into Doomchica's (un)favor, thus implicating him (although, this turned out to be wrong and I didn't know they were both friends in real life) and E_Lost solidified the deal ~10 minutes before night-time.
Of course, I'm screaming at my monitor about the whole deal, but there wasn't much I could do about it.
Statisically, one of the 4 people with 2 votes should be a wolf (it's not exactly 25% considering Soul Rider was definately human, so the number is at 15. It's actually a little more). im_lost brought up a good point: the wolves could have already set up for humans to work towards 2 votes, thus leaving all humans in the lynching pool. That's possible, but I've seen games where wolves garner votes either randomly or in order to remove some suspicion.
So, if no wolfs are in our 4 man group: then we shouldn't see any kind of bandwaggoning. No wolf would want to risk a late vote when a human getting lynched is guaranteed, even if they don't know which one.
If there is a wolf (or possibly, although statistically unlikely more than one), then we should see some form of voting pattern to give us something. Sure, 25% doesn't sound like much, but flip a coin and have it come up heads twice: and you just killed a wolf. I wouldn't like those odds if I was a wolf. But then again, I'm not a gambler.
Semi and Ana seem like choice targets for the wolves to leave around (provided they are human), so most likely, we'll see Thansal and Theslan get railroaded if there is foul play as they both seem to be the most senior players.
This whole day is probably going to be a random lynching anyways. We might as well garner as much info off it as possible.
The only benefit I see is that it puts a subset of people in the spotlight, and could encourage people to speak more. The more a wolf posts, the more likely he'll give something away, or at least give us more information to connect the dots later on.
I can't think of a real downside, except that any wolf not in the subset can basically relax, unless their vote itself is questioned.
As tjo COULD be a wolf attempting to shift votes off of another wolf (Yes, I know he was the second to place his vote, but that could be a decoy), I am goign to change my vote to <b>semipsychotic </b>
Oh, right, and anyone reading into this as "Ah HA! thansal doesn't want to die", my responses is:
NO ****!

If people just throw random votes with no intention of fitting in a "system" of a certain number of votes on certain people then you leave the wolves able to make the wrong decision - trying to actively influence the outcome and thus leaving a footprint to trace them by in later voting rounds.
... so most likely, we'll see Thansal and Theslan get railroaded if there is foul play as they both seem to be the most senior players.

What the? When am I the most senior player? Maybe more senior than Ana and Semi...
My vote stands. Ana has not responded in this thread and sounds AFKish again. While I hate voting on AFK players, it really hurts to have AFK players around.

umm, yah.
And Ana and I started the same game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
I just talk alot <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
And completely to help my head, I am voting for <b>Thansal</b> to seperate them in the voting list for now. Dammit you two, get more unique names <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

At least we didn't swap avatars and signatures this time around.
Switching my vote to comprox will do nothing atm.
I still think it is worth watching tjo/semipsychotic
Normally, I would random.org between Ana and Theslan.
But I am a bastd, and thus <b>Theslan</b> gets my vote(for now), putting us together again.
so Fie on you Comprox.
I will probably switch my vote to comprox/semi/tjo if any of them end up with 2 votes, or if votes become imbalanced again (aka, I only have 2 votes, I will not leave Theslan sitting there with 3)
vote count:
Thansal (3) - Eternaly Lost, Xentor, Comprox
Theslan (3) - semipsychotic, TheFeniX, Thansal

semipsychotic (1) - im lost
Xentor (1) - Faskalia
