Lost River is just beautiful right now.

Re: Natural Selection League, Season 10! - Natural Selection 2
My problem with comp is how they always expect you to be as good as they are, and to play exactly how they would...
For instance when I'm forced to marine.. My average acc is under 10%... If I run around all gung ho I accomplish nothing helpful, and (if I'm lucky) end up with maybe 4-5 kills by round end, and none of those kills will be important (ie saving a harvester/phasegate/base/etc)...
On the other hand if I play how I like, staying defensive and ambushing aliens, I can end up with acc as high as 40% and most times I can even down a couple lerks or even a fade (by ambushing as they attack res, or by pinching) and end a game with as many as 20+ kills, all of which are from defending harvesters/phasegates/base/etc..
Comp players always try to votekick me if i don't run head first into a room with multiple aliens and kill them all solo like they would...
It's quite frustrating..
People in the competitive scene doesnt mind about your average % in the accuracy.
But what they do mind is how you approach the gather, if you just think it's another "public game" where you dont listen to your team and such. Then you're going have to face the concequence of being questioned. Cause that's what gathers are made for, similar mindset as an PCW/SCRIM are.
So those who wants to play, people dont mind about your accuracy at all, the only thing that's kind of a requirement is Teamplay, listen to your team and your commander + captain. Then you'll be all fine

POV/Perspective Issue - Creatures and structures, bigger than they look. [Spoilers, I guess]
Hey, guys. Have you ever noticed how everything looks smaller in first person than it actually is?
Have you ever gone up to something big (like the sea dragon), then switch to freecam mode and notice that it seems even bigger, when you compare it to the player model?
Here's some examples, this is the sea dragon:

And this is what happens when you compare its size with the player model:

It's a bit bigger here than it looks in first person, right? Or am I crazy...?
Here's another one, this is the sea emperor's current size

And this is how be he actually is:

The sea emperor does look kinda small right now, at first glance. But he's actually huge, even though he's probably going to be bigger once he's finished.
Even the reaper leviathan is noticeably bigger in actuality than what he appears to be in first person:

You thought the giant skeleton head in the lost river was huge already?:

Well, it's actually bigger...:

You could almost build an entire city in its mouth...
Something that really took me by surprise is how big the ghost tree actually is.
This is the ghost tree:

And this is how it looks when you're close to it in first person:

This is how big it actually is:

This is a problem that I really wish to be resolved in the future, because this problem really takes a way a lot of what the game is supposed to feel like:
You're a tiny human, in a giant world.
Giant creatures and structures in Subnautica is awesome, a lot of people have wanted this in Subnautica for a long time, but it's actually already in the game right now!
It just doesn't look like it is.
I tried playing around with the FOV ingame a bit, but it only made it look like the game was either zoomed in or zoomed out.
I asked Obraxis if they were going to resolve this issue in the future and he responded with: "We may put in a POV scaler before 1.0 but no promises".
A POV scaler could probably help a lot, but is it really enough? Maybe something needs to be changed about the position of the "camera" in first person or something.
What do you guys think? Do you have any thoughts about this issue?

Riding the Reaper!!! | Subnautica Parkour?! | What I used the P.R.A.W.N. Suit & Precursor gun for :D
As soon as I saw that they had added grappling hooks to the P.R.A.W.N. suit, I had to do this. It just made sense
Please check it out, I even took the Reaper for a ride!!!

Re: Natural Selection League, Season 10! - Natural Selection 2
Also, quick note, if you don't have a team, don't want to make a team, but still want to get involved. Make a thread on the recruitment forum (here) tell people about yourself and hopefully someone will grab you for their team!

Re: The Epic Trello Thread
I like it how the animals don't deliberately go after you, that they haven't made Subnautica 'gamey' this way. And even if they do, then the animals can be avoided or warded off without killing. It feels sort of natural.
Oh, you're in the Creepvine; well of course that Stalker might have a nip at you; just swim backwards facing him until he loses interest, or stuff him full of Peepers.
You're in the Grassy Plateau? Of course those Sandsharks are gonna have a go at you; you're the intruder in their nesting grounds after all.
The only really aggressive things that will go after you and bang on your Seamoth are the Bonesharks. Reason? Naturally that agressive, or perhaps they were one of the first creatures to be infected.
They're not targeting you because human being, kill; it's more like, oh, new food? or get out of my territory! I've swum about near Reapers before, and they haven't deliberately gone after me.
Maybe this will change, though...
