Personally, I feel that the easiest way would be to go "Batteries Not Included", and have your original pod contain a handful of batteries for powering of the important tools.
Say, three batteries: That would give you enough for a Scanner, Repair Tool, and Seaglide.
The mats for batteries are easy to find for the most part: copper is the one thing you may have to dig a bit for, whereas acid mushrooms are everywhere... *EVERYHWHERE*.
There are also tons of batteries in vacuum packs around the world. I have two full battery chargers, *and* about 10 spare batteries, *and* all the tools I've crafted, and only created perhaps one or two batteries in total.

Updates did not break the feature, a change in Microsoft services did.

I know exactly what was changed I knew what was going to happen and the Subnautica feedback tool isn't the only thing down I've helped through remote xbl microsoft networking I was there before the changes and now I'm whining up a storm till it fixed. also they put a update on bits protocal service it hammers Subnautica causes issues that's xbox's whoops they need to fix. Doesn't help pc gamers streamin Subnautica october build on a 6,000.00 dollar gaming computer in 4k streams either with working seamoth hud and many other things. Ok I ranted enough.

You don't need a $6,000 PC lmao and whining won't cause this to be fixed quicker. When you bought the game it stated that it was early access, no one held a gun to your head to buy it. Patience, XBOX will get the Subnautica it deserves in time, just give it a few more months.

Oh, and you can get into the Aurora without the Propulsion Cannon. Not in or out by the near entrance, but through the entrance by the cargo bay door. It's a bit of a jumping puzzle but perfectly do-able. Same with getting up the stairs in the Prawn bay.

So we can still play it without being afraid for the backup .... No Save No load ......... no utility
We're just as frustrated. We spent a lot of time looking into this & fixing issues, we did actually put in some fixes for saved games, but it didnt fix the one which some people are having. We're on it, but we thought it was best to keep the Xbox up-to-date as much as possible, especially that we didn't want to hold back performance improvements.
We're spending a lot of time looking for the actual cause, it's unique to Xbox and isnt happening on PC or Mac. This is our first Xbox game, so we are going to run into kinks like this from time to time, but that's why we're in Game Preview. To work out the kinks with the community's help before release.

I got it before that. Before the second Sunbeam transmission.

Good. The recharge exploit by crafting a Scanner with a dead battery still needs to be fixed too.
