The biggest thing that NS2 would actually need to bring in some new players or bring back old ones would be something as big as another game mode and combat would seem to be the most ideal. I don't know if its possible or feasible at the moment and …

I'm not blaming FLG but somebody thought it was a good idea to push for this business strategy and it was a colossal failure, the game was practically dead on arrival which is a shame because there was some cool stuff in it and the brief time that I…

Heh, I remember expecting it to be free and built into the main game and when I discovered that you had to pay for it and it was a separate client, it blew my mind.
Anyway, I played about 4 hours of combat SA but I would've played more i… -
For me, it doesn't need to be a 50 minute game. Just something longer than 10 minutes that doesn't feel like a complete stomp. I don't really care if my team isn't doing everything 100% the way competitive players do, I just want to play the game an…

This doesn't even consider the possibility of 3k or so players commanding as well. I don't know but last I checked I was above 3k in pubs when I used to play NS2 a lot more but I would also marine comm a lot as well in the past. If the server wasn't…

In DOTA 2, I actually quite enjoy 10v10 custom games because as with the large servers in NS2, you can switch your brain off and just have some fun. The community is still there for those that want the 6v6 gathers or the lower player count servers.

Ok, not a perfect example but still somewhat relevant. In DOTA 2 competitive, teams can choose to concede early if they feel a game is unwinnable just like NS2. The only thing they add in is that the throne/ancient explodes, an epic soundtrack is ad…

If its a woefully imbalanced game skillwise then it will end pretty quickly usually. The only issue with this I see is that aliens tend to have a harder time closing out a winning game until fades arrive. If people want to F4, you … -
Concede shouldn't be allowed until 7-8 minutes in which is roughly when fades appear for most games. At that point, fades can pull back a losing game or help finish a closed out one. The majority of games before this timer aren't set in stone, somet…

@UncleCrunch Just because the Reaper pack didn't bring in another 100k players doesn't mean skins/cosmetics are worthless for retention and growth. Firstly, they are s…

Only issue I have with pubs right now is that getting a balanced game is like 1-20, its usually a stomp with the game being over before 10 minutes. NS2 is at its best when teams are evenly matched but either people want to stack so they don't have a…

All you would need to do for aliens to end games faster once they get hive 3/xeno is just double the damage of xeno on structures. It might seem overkill but if the purpose is to end games, its fine. Doesn't affect how marines can counter-push a hiv…

Going back a couple of pages, what would replace cysts as a system though? Alien commander is so barebones already that even removing cysts makes it already more dull, comp alien comms will be spending even less time in the hive.

A couple of servers have done this but I'd also recommend making it more common: rookie only servers, veteran only servers, etc. This can be created by admins in some sense but official servers with varying rules would also help such as the followin…

Speaking of power nodes, why not do it the way the C&C games do it if people don't like the mechanics? Just make them less efficient than with power but still function, stuff takes longer to research, people take longer to respawn, beacons are s…

Honestly, there's a tonne of changes that could be made to simplify or allow easier access into the gameplay in NS2 but I believe that this needs something more akin to casual/rookie mode in CS:GO. It doesn't matter how simple you make it, if people…

Only way imo to bring people back or get new players to take a look is to just be boombastic. The recent loading time change which is a godsend for me as I've easily spent dozens of hours on the loading screens but that isn't going to bring new play…

My main issue with combat was that it wasn't built into the original game and sure you might have your solid arguments against it but at the end of the day, my opinion stays the same and I imagine many others would feel the same way. I played more c…

Honestly, unless you're still making a half-decent profit from the game, just make it free. See if it attracts any players or at least make it free for awhile. KF2 recently did that (albeit its a much more popular game) and their player counts rose …

Not really needed. If you're team has the coordination, you can just get 3 gorges together and push a base, usually you can trade and get more out of that trade as the 3 gorges. Unless there's an exo at the front, most marines can't even hit a gorge…

There's just a lack of information about the game. Skulk hopping, fade hopping. Stuff about positioning and awareness is pointless because a noob isnt going to be able to apply those concepts in a practical sense but an instructional guide on how to…

I'd say its more to do with the quality of players. The more experienced and skilled the player is, the greater the tendency of high aggression. This is particularly pertinent in SC2 where Korean players are extremely aggressive compared to their NA…

Games that last < 10 minutes aren't worth looking at unless you can account for the discrepancy that a stacked team can have on the win/loss ratio. A stacked marine team can end the game earlier than a stacked alien game from personal experience …

Well they do use lascannons from time to time.

The relaunch sounds interesting but would you price the game? Would you give people who already had the base game a free code? Would it simply be a "pseudo-update"? Would you include combat standalone? DLC skins?
I've mentioned this befo… -
Catpacks are godlike when used properly and what I consider to be the effective counter to Onos. Jetpacks just don't work versus good onos after the first time you reveal them, they play overly cautious sometimes which makes them even tougher to kil…

No, because as we all know (unless you've had an SSD since the beginning) loading up NS2 or NS2 combat is just insanely tedious. If I haven't played for a few days, it can take me 5 mins to load a single map where I can load a SC2 … -

But he isn't flat out stating that its a problem or lack thereof when he doesn't have the data to back it up. You're the one spreading conjecture and rubbish.

Haven't played in over a month at this point and don't really have the itch to play anymore. Found another game to put my time into at the moment, I don't know why I don't feel like playing NS2 anymore but it kinda just feels dull now. Been quite a …

I'll assume you missed the "remaster or sequel of NS" part because I already stated that implementing into NS2 is a waste of time at best. If a sequel is to be made then I simply cannot understand why you would not have a proper ma…
