Congratulations, Unknown Worlds. I've been around since early 2002, and I'm always excited to see what you guys do next. Your journey has been inspiring to watch, and your games a joy to play.

I was a big proponent of no achievements early on, but if they're carefully tailored to encourage/reward things that are almost always good actions, then I can see it working well to retain certain players that need ANY sense of progress (which is i…

(Quote) You optimized your input latency on PC. Nothing can fix the high latency that is common in console games.
What mouse and OS are you using? -
This is useful, but it's important not to take things out of context. For example, much of the questions about yourself can be used to identity the type of people answering, not the ratios of all NS2 players. Also, a few people have focused on the "…

In my opinion, grouping rookies with only other rookies is a terrible idea. It'll be very hard for them to learn anything and they'll get terrible experiences that'll turn them off from the game. Of course, we have that issue on a lot of rookie frie…

I wonder if this is worth considering for timeouts/crashes -- drop a lifeform egg in place. Often vulnerable, but could be recovered. There's nothing worse than having an Onos or Fade and crashing for whatever reason.

But with jetpacks they lose their jetpacks. Meds and nano are another res sink.
Having played NS2 before weapon pickups, I think it was worse. The timeout on them is pretty well balanced right now, I think.
It's usually a mis… -
They recently removed the 0 option for some reason. Maybe because of that issue? It used to work as expected.
[edit] Looks like Nvidia disagrees with Anandtech, although now that I think about it, I think Anandtech was referring to using… -
(Quote) Like I said, I'm pretty sensitive about it. I'm always talking about input latency to my friends, and they can't tell the difference. I feel like I get less input latency in NS2 than I do in CS:GO now, but that could be due to a faster ac…

As a side note, console games typically have 4-5 frame latency, not including the display latency (which is often worse for TVs than monitors). That can be around 200ms on 30FPS games.
Another interesting tidbit: it takes a player 150-30… -
60FPS is still 60FPS (16.67ms frametime), but each frame is delayed by 2-3 frametimes (33.33-49.99ms). I believe with vsync double buffered, you can add ~17-33ms more latency. With vsync triple buffered, you can add ~0-16ms more latency. There are a…

I didn't have terrible performance in previous versions despite being on a budget system, but the input latency was killer. No more input latency, so it feels very smooth now!
-
I'm not going to say it can't be improved, but I see similar issues in other games all the time.
