Eh. The last few games I played, there were 2-4 Gorges who would rush down a hallway, spraying Babblers everywhere. We couldn't push past them, and it was fairly annoying.

I strongly disagree. Game design should be, foremost, intuitive. If players will intuitively play defensively as Marines, then the solution is not to try and force them to be hyper-aggressive (because they won't).

It took 7-8 shots to kill it despite one shotting Fades. Also, there doesn't appear to be a way to 'save' charges. Additionally, having three Exos on your team at once is basically an automatic loss right then and there. -

Yes. An Onos is exactly what you just described, and it actually costs much less than an Exo while being much more powerful. (tres costs that go into the research + 75 pres trumps the requirements for an Onos).
