Depends .. he is going from Nvidia to ATI. It could be several factors if the Nvidia drivers haven't been cleared yet. Maybe PhysX is somehow interfering.

Have you tried cleaning all the old Nvidia drivers from your system? maybe with something like Driver Sweep or whatever is being used these days? Reinstalling the drivers might help.

The general performance even in the lobby has dropped for me. -
I also have a pretty mean FPS drop. I used to average at around 40~ and now I am somewhere around 25.

I am not trying to get them to force full power modes.. what for? Their goal is to remove the throttling (if there really is any.. of which I doubt since these are gaming laptops known for having hardware "overclocking" buttons).

Not really. All it means is that if there is an artificial block placed by MSI, it will override it allowing the processor to perform at the full 2.9 Ghz. It might get hot .. if it isn't getting hot already.
