    How is the lag on the map? have the entity issues been dealt with or your waiting for the last two parts before that gets done?

    Great so far... One of my favourite maps, it always had the most atomospheric (excuse the pun) and fun maps even if it was horribly balanced. Im sure you guys can come up with something.

    Edit: Latest version has 264 entities. Official limit is 275.

    No lag? Did you have tryed to make an for the best part turret farm to see if it really will lag or not. And gorge farm. I like the combat bast screenshots, but Ms is a bit red.     Feedwater does look REALLY cramped... though I haven't played it, so I really can't say.

    And how does one make it more com-friendly? are there special entities or something? or are you going to just move stuff?

    And one more question:
    Is it possible to hear every point of the map as a commander? I think it's ns_mineshaft... the map is too low, and so, you can't hear the map. Being able to hear it is quite important...

    It ain't as cramped as before. Plus it now has lovely dark corners.

    Had another playtest. There's some crates in Tram-Tunnel now, along with other changes. Captions coming soon to a theater near you.

    Note: Images might not work for some people. I don't know why. I suspect it has something to do with my host's DNS or something.

    We set up a siege in the vents connected to Engine. I kill MrBen.

    (Note: It takes a good amount of teamwork to jump on each other and get up there. 1 skulk (i.e. Mendasp) can just run in and kill all of them, practically ending the game. And even when they DO finally set up a base there, it's rather easy to Spore and such.)

    We stealthily climb over to Refinery and try to set up a siege on the hive. It would have been a great victory (and only in a few minutes too). We fail.

    Other marines are trying to relocate to Feedwater. They're not as successful though. Some skulks come and kill all of them.

    I have to say this, ive finally straightened it all out in my head.

    Ok, bast is looking great, but I do have one problem with it. I am not talking about the lighting, I know its a WIP. But all the other little things. I feel the style of the map is being changed. I'm not saying it looks bad, oh now, but I do not feel this project if holding true to the style of the original mapper. This may be a bad comparison, but its like fixing up a picasso and saying it looks better. That is his style, and this is yours. The styles of ns maps today are very different than that of what was, ie when bast was made. Now, i'm not telling the remakers to change what they have done, but to keep that in mind when they get feedback and its a little negative. And for the people giving feedback to remember its a blend of styles. I personally would want to try and preserve the original style, but im not on this team.

    And now I get ready to be told I'm completely wrong... bah

    well, not that much, actually, since there have been some changes... but I must say they were much needed tweaks to a pretty unbalanced map... tweaks that would never be made 'coz the source of the map was lost, and even if that hadn't happpened, apparently the mapper himself wasn't gonna be mapping anymore, so, what more do you want?

    'sides, these are just a few <b>subtle</b> "balance/gameplay" tweaks here and there that are making Bast be the Bast that it's always deserved to be!...

    also, consider the fact that this Bast comes from a decompiled version of the original... nah, it's all there, just as it was...

    Now that I see the infestation in refinery, I must say that it is pretty nice. However, the infestation looks like it ends too abruptly. Any chance the mappers can add some semi infested textures to the wall/floor at the edges of the infestation?

    That's the same problem I've been facing with nancy. People don't want change even though the map NEEDS it. Bast looks much better now, and that is all a map is about. It is much more atmospheric too. Why people must complain it doesn't feel like the old is stupid. All the other maps got updates. Why shouldn't this one?

    im not reallytalking about gameplay/balance tweaks. Infestation wasn't a gameplay tweak... The little things im talking about, details. I know changes will be made to adjust the gameplay, and thats good. But I feel the style is slowly being altered to blend that with of the remake mappers. I still have yet to decide if its a bad idea or not, either way it looks nice, but I like the older map styles much much more.

    Lazer, go ahead, make gameplay changes you need to, but don't add detail cause you think it looks better, cause then its your style, your tastes. Not that of the original mapper. Try and hold true, which I think has been done very well with nancy.

    I am not saying anything looks horrible.

    Bast has always been the most atmospheric map. When you go back and look at all the old maps they actually have places that feel dark and scary. This is what i want to preserve in bast. Right now we have far to many maps that just ....well they are just not scary at all, there are no dark corners or scary corridors in any of the new maps. This is the main loss we feel form ns and thus we want a bast that feels dark and scary and feels like you could get ambushed at any moment.
    Bast had this due to its dark feel and narrow corridors. I think peoples concerns are just that they do not want another ns_origin or ns_veil.
