Yah, like MonsE for example. He's awful at CS, and yet in NS he's.. also... awful. Okay! Bad example!
Umm...

I mean, how do you think people do it in TFC? In that game you cant rely on scores alone. If im playing as a scout I expect to get -1/60+ (the -1 is the suicide in prematch) as I dont try and cap, I just get the flag through the base (otherwise Id have to save a conc for getting to the cap point).
A defender sometimes dies lots of times and their job is to weaken and warn. An HW in the well hardly moves and hardly seen any action but is vital to winning. These things are tested out in trial but observing and dueling. NS would be the same.
Essentially whenever you try someone out you expect them to be below peak ability. All you are trying to figure out is if they have the potential to be good. Let them run a few times as a scout(assuming they play light o) against you as an engineer/soldier on 2fort and see how they do.
If you like how they're doing then make them a recruit, give them scripts(assuming they lack them), and teach them some tactics. Make them play engineer against your scout and they'll watch what you do to them to get by. They should learn from what you do, keep teaching and then when they're ready put em in a scrim and see how they do.
By the end of recruiting period if they've learned enough to make them good and haven't had problems with the team, make them members.

I've been waiting for that longer then you think
/Tycho usurps Greedo through a cunning mixture of brute force and something to dip food in.
I myself was in a clan that looked for personality first, skill second. So you can recruit nice people, then kick them out if NS comes out and they suck <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
Some of this could be applied to NS for finding a recruit.
P.S. Eats what tfc clan were you in? I'm quite well versed in the TFC community <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo--> past clans in tfc = [CLAW] - pre-1.5, [5150*]- pre-1.5, [*E*] -top10 clan, [13] currently.
Skulk - ambushing, navigation using leap, running defenses to attack the CC, parasiting.
Gorge - intelligent building placement, capable frontline support, traps, and resource management.
Lerk - Movement (especially dodging) skills, energy management, and teamwork with Umbra.
Fade - effective weapon-switching and blink proficiency (it's tricky to get good at!<!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->.
Onos - There's actually a bit more strategy to Onos than you might think, especially (I'd imagine) in clan play. Knowing when to retreat, knowing how to deal with unorthodox threats (e.g. jetpacks, elevated marines), and attacking as part of a group (primal scream).
Just my thoughts. (:
As you know, there will always be differences in the way clans recruit. I suggest just doing things that would test the teamwork aspect of both teams, and deciding if they would be a helpful asset to your clan.
Dont play against him unless you like losing <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
I spent most of my clan life in Blacksun. I left along with all the other key members who kept it alive and held main positions, when we decided it was time for the clan to fold. After we left the clan was reformed, largely by people we kicked out for not meshing/sucking as a bronze league clan that wasn't good(what bronze league clan is?). I don't know if that clan is still around but it doesn't represent the real blacksun.
I also had a short stint with Null and......another top 10 clan, the name escapes me right now tho, but those were around the time I was getting out.
Also I used to run pickup games(if they still do that) If you know any old timers to tfc they might remember me.
On another note:
Trying to draw a clan from personality can get you a stable clan....but all the members have to be ok with losing often, which was ok with no clan i've ever been in or seen really..... Drawing a clan from skill can give you a very unstable clan though. However, drawing a clan from skill and making sure the members are mature, thats what makes a good clan. That's my observation from watching clans for about 2 years.
EDIT: Oh yeah and I do remember blacksun quite well. Good clan, but after they died and reformed with different members they weren't good :/ And no they aren't around anymore.
Evolutionarily Challenged goes by attitude, personality and dedication. I agree, any other basis for a clan means that 99% of the time they will not last.
I guess there must be 2 kickass Eats <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->. Ive been in TFC since the original patch and Ive heard of KiN and CE of course but Ive always been more interested in the UK scene really and so I dont know any of the top US players. The UK Eats has been around for ages... not actually sure if he still plays as I dont have much time for TFC lately (:().
Is that communist clan still around? I forget their name, but my favorite tfc match ever was against them.(dbl overtime in well back when concs were strong, in fact, we used to have this trick where heavy o and light o would meet in water, and we'd drop a conc and cj both a light and a heavy up with one nade, it was cool.)
Also how about bm(bad muthas), still around?(our arch nemesis, only because they were huge ####### who tried to get mad lag advantage with garbage servers cause they couldn't compete with us, or any other top 10 clan for that matter, on fair terms. I remember once we had to play on a server with over 400 pings against them, cause ogl rules are?/were broken.)
heh, ce and kin weren't even in the same league as us (despite being like 8 places away.) I played them each once or twice, and it was sick. They slaughtered us like 7-2 both rds.....they were way too good.....much better then every other clan in the league.
good times.....
It doesnt matter about the score, its about teamwork
Urgh, what a dreary post that was...
WOOHOO, NS WILL BE OUT SOON <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
I have no clue about top tfc clans in the UK, only know about the top tfc clans in NA. = north america.
Are you talking about my clan?
[SUF] was our old tag about 2 years ago. -|SUF|- is our new tag. Same name though....
Soviets Under Fire.
I don't remember a Eats so maybe you arn't talking about us. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
[on-topic]I am head recruiter of the SUF NS faction (and leader of it). I am going to be looking for good Skulk players with good bite skills and good people skills. If you don't have people skills (like being nice and keeping your cool) then you have a 1% chance of making it in. I don't really plan on taking SUF to the marine side but we could always use a good HMG/GL-er (We don't have many HWGuys/Demomen in our clan). We have the commander thing settled though.[/on-topic]
