Saying Space Quest without King's Quest is pure heresy - No Space Quest without KQ, and both were phenomenal series. Until Mask of Eternity, which I never played, but I understand did not make a good change in direction

Well obviously half-life,

Dune2, being the first strategy game EVAR,

The entire FF series, which basically began the RPG genre (ok there may have been RPGs before Final Fantasy, but can you remember any of them? Yes? I don't care, FF still deserves a mention ),

Baulder's Gate, just because,

The original C&C because it was the first GOOD strategy game evar,

Metal Gear Solid. You know why.
• Billy_SilverfishBilly_Silverfish Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15688Members
I think you mean the first RTS evar, and even that is doubtful. And Dune 2 was a very good game.

Just sayin'

Blake Stone by ID Software; the first action game.

Blake Stone, was originally meant to have elements that strategy games had (like moving bodies), but they decided to remove it before shipping cause they thought some gamers wouldnt like it.

I notice that Maniac Mansion was conspicously gone. Even though I've only really played Day of the Tentacle (the sequel), I understand the idea behind MM.

And before you all shout at me, I already know you can play Maniac Mansion in DotT by using Ed's computer.

Tie Fighter, Mechwarrior 2, Fallout Series, Monkey Island Series, Original Command and Conquer, Zork (you have been eaten by a grue), Oregan Trail

Speaking of Oregan Trail, I just tried playing it, and here is what happened...

10 miles into journey, theif comes in the night and steals ALL my oxen, can't go on
Wait two days, trade 3 sets of clothing for 1 ox, continue on trail, very slowly
Ford the first River, successful
Jill gets Cholera
Attempt to ford the second river, failed. Max has drowned, lost food and ammuntion

At that point I gave up....

DragonQuest or DragonWarrior (diff name, depending on side of Pacific you're on) by Enix. When did people ever get the idea that FF is the first story book game anyway? Square was cashing in Enix's thang. As well, in Japan the only thing people look forward to more than FF's are DQ's. Why did you think Enix had the resources to buy out Squaresoft itself? 'cuz DragonQuest made it THAT much money.

Think about that next time you think FF's are that significant.
