My life would be whole,
If it all weren't so slow.
The screen; she is not updating,
The cheese is a growing,
My wrath is not abating,
The froth is escalating.

I wish steam would just run,
Run like a dream.

I go to sleep now; while steam is updating....

Well the update has to be done. Go and do something useful while you wait. Bitching will not make it go any faster.

True it doesn't but it makes the day go much faster as I am here for another 4 hours woot!

The update was done four hours ago. We have every right to moan that Valve let people back on to the network before the content servers were working. Anyway, seeing as steampowered.com is down, no-one can update any of their games. So unless you got in before it died, there's not a hope of anything for the next few hours.

Meh, i think Steam is spying on my system.
Why should it need 10+ minutes to login?

Edit: Yess, another update! Oh joy!

Steam has corrupted my HL install twice and, in one case, actually deleted itself.

I am not kidding. Steam.exe vanished on itself.

Tbh... im sort of dissapointed in this community for bashing steam.

Its clearly stated that steam will be down for like 3 hours and thats not a long time.
You wanted offline play ? well there you go wait 3 hours and just get out and enjoy reality.

And it was clearly stated that steam will be down on wednesday at like planethalflife.com and other sites and that the steam website will be also down.

Meh, if u guys act like this... we're no better then the cs community.
its a free service too, so take your anger out on a real world trashcan ffs.

if you had to p2p on steam.. THEN bash steam.
otherwise.
Let reality kick in and have a few cold ones for a while.

*sigh

*edit* mind you i read the first page of comments and i switched quickly to the last page so im just going out on a hitch that people have been bashing steam for a good 4-5 forum pages.

Worked fine for me. Just you **** stay on your computer 24/7 and when a update comes out YOU ALL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT AT THE SAME TIME THEN **** LIKE THERES NO TOMMROW!!
Steam runs fine for me. If it takes too long to update MEH i have other games, so i can play them. But you people rather sit there complaining after 5 minutes of waiting how steam moved one percent because everybody in the fu*king HL community is downloading the update. I would like to see you **** tards go make a program just like steam and make it so the download servers are ALWAYS fast and it has totaly not bugs in it and it pwnz everything.

If you did that i would give you a dollar.

/rant

I've always got it. I was a steam beta tester. You think this is bad? You should of seen the last beta, i couldn't even join a game.

EDIT: Supriseingly the first beta was the best, Was completely stable. If you ask me friends **** it up.

And people who hate updates you should be happy that vlave is so dedicated to steam.
And people who think valve just threw steam out without beta testing? Thats a load of crap, I was getting a new beta EVERYDAY and that was hard for me because i was on 56k at the time. (Steam is almost 2 years old you know.)

Valve should have expected these sort of problems, HL is popular after all. A possible solution is to allow update files to be downloaded from mirrors, reducing bandwidth problems by allowing this file to be passed around. While this may go against the whole point of steam, the system not able to handle the peak load so needs fixing.

I was on a late Steam beta, and it worked fine, but the public release didn't. This suggests a problem with the scale up and the whole system needs either fixing or scrapping.

If you have issues with Steam, take it to Steam. Don't whine about it here, where we have to clean up the mess.

In the last 24 hours, 240,000 unique users have successfully updated Steam and submitted the HL2 hardware survey. When you're dealing with numbers like that, there is *no* network that isn't going to have some issues. Patience is a virtue, children.
