<div class="IPBDescription">GOD DAMNIT, STEAM!</div> IT AIN'T WORKING! It says, "Steam Updating..." and shows that nifty little progress bar, and stays like that for a good ten minutes before I press, 'Cancel'. No actual progress is made in updating, and I wanna play NS! Anyone else having Steam problems right now?

    it might seem it's not updating but it actually is. It'll close itself if the update is unavailable.     HA! I finished the update, then when i went to logon "Account does not exist"
    Then i got mad, exited steam, and its updating again!

    that is a good idea, but steam always wanted it so you didnt have to download any patches, thats one of the main reasons why it was created

    How is it free!? I payed $50 for Half-Life when it came out. Payed $30 for Gunman Chronicles (Basically a stand alone SP Half-Life MOD). Payed $30 for Opposing Force.     It is free because the CD-key is only required to redownload Half-life. If you didn't have a CD-key they would be giving HL + mods away for free.

    Steam is a free product developed by Valve which has probably cost them thousands of dollars to develop and host servers for.

    Steam's stressed to the limit; all the bandwidth is being used up. It's the same old same old. Just walk away, come back in a few hours or so and try again,

    1: I don't have other games (well.. I do but I just want to play NS)

    2: Me too, it so annoying!!

    yes, Steam is free
    Valve could pull the plug on all things like WON and Steam and you could complain, but you didn't actualy buy the right to play online, you bought the right to use a copy of their code... Thus both WON and Steam are free services.

    Yes, Steam still has a lot of bugs (most prominent atm is that steam update dosn't have a progress bar for most people, despite it actualy doing stuff)

    Another possibility is that they never fixed the bug where it takes reboot to change the Content server you are conected to (despite it being dead atm)

    Oh, nad don't botrher with RTCW get ET:RtCW (enemy Teritory) so much cooler and its FREEEEEEEE (its basicaly a TC that you don't need the original game for <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
