It's one typo guys, don't make such a big deal out of it, geeze. Jack "So.....can we stop the nukes in time?" Reza "Shut up, I am trying!" Mike "Yeh, you better hurry, before the Kharaas find out we are almost out of ammo"
Reza and Sophie continued their 'hailstorm' of complicated computer commands into their individual monitors. "Huh?" Reza frowned, as he stroke his chin, puzzled. His frown soon turned into a annoyed scowl as he glared at the screen in anger. Soon, Reza was slamming his fist on the keyboard as he screamed "F*** THIS GODDAMNED THING!!!"
Something was very wrong.
Jack "What?! What?!" Reza "I can't stop the nukes!" Mike "YOU WHAT?!" Reza "I can't stop the f***ing nukes!" Sophie "Why?!" Reza "I was unable to gain access to the Missile Silos, you see, that's where the nuclear missiles are stored. Unfortunately, the link was broken, or rather, blocked" Jack "By what?" Reza "Bacterium................." Jack "So what the hell do we do now?" Reza "Curse this foul Kharaas..............Burt was killed because he tried to save Earth..........Burt died for nothing" Sophie "Don't say that! Theres always a way out! Come, look at this!"
Reza headed towards Sophie's computer and she stood up. "Take a look yourself" She said. It seems that there was a way out after all.
Reza "No time to lose! We have to go!" Jack "Where?" Sophie "Below, the Missile Silo can be accessed easily through the B2 lift" Jack "Which is?" Reza "The lift over there to the left, you can see it under the ledge and ladder, just 50 or 60 metres from here" Mike "How shall we stop the nukes?" Reza "At one area of the Missile Silo, theres a small room called the 'Missile Control Centre', from there, we will stop the nukes from launching" Sophie "Come, everyone, insert these into your helmets"
Sophie handed out small nano chips to Jack, Mike and Reza and she inserted one into her own helmet as well. Immediately, everyone's HUD now contained the updated minimap of BH, telling them the way to the Missile Silo.
Everyone grabbed their HMGs and Shotguns and formed the circle once more. Surprisingly, the ranks of the Kharras had opened, and they crowded away, fearful of the humans. A clear pathway leading all the way to the end of the Main Bridge was seen, and everyone moved down the path, guns loaded and ready to shoot.
They were only another 30 or so metres away from the B2 lift, and something much unexpected happened. The Kharaas on each side got very noisy, as they snarled and growled, and shrieked and roar. For several seconds, everyone stopped moving, and they looked around, trying to figure out what was happening.
Jack "What's going on?!" Reza "They are excited and agitated" Jack "At what?" Mike "Look!"
The Kharaas suddenly became silence, and all of them had stopped moving.
Somewhere, far ahead to the right which many rows of Kharaas were standing, a fearsome bellow erupted, as if it was from the depts of hell. Reza, Jack, Sophie and Mike stared in shock as several huge tentacles whipped into the air, followed by a huge wall lined with terrible spikes which rised up many metres high. Everyone gasped when 4 limbs unfolded, eyes glared and a huge maw filled with rows of sharp teeth opened.
The 4 humans now found themselves facing a 18 metre high Kharaa along with several hundred smaller Kharaas.

"Oh god.......oh god.......it's the Queen" Sophie stammered as she trembled in fear.
"The Queen........now I understand..........." Reza muttered as he faltered and leaned down.
"And I thought I 've seen it all already" Mike added.
"Whatever it is, all we have to do is to kill it right?" Jack questioned. The others looked at him in unison, and nodded. They had to kill it.
The Queen was about 18 metres high and 30 metres long. It's 100 ton body was pillar-ed on 4 enormous feets which ended in sharp claws. Huge spikes and fat tentacles grew out of its back and its tail was lined with many small jagged spikes. Its gaping jaw was dripping with saliva and a long sineous wet tongue stuck out through its fearsome teeth. Its two large eyes were cruel and filled with malice and it let out another ear-piercing bellow. This was the Queen of the Kharaa.
Jack "Reza, now what?" Reza "You tell me" Mike "Running like hell would be a good idea......if not for all the smaller Kharaas" Reza "Screw it, just shoot"
The other Kharaas retreated as the Queen fixed its eyes on the 4 humans. Cursing, Jack fired madly at the Queen's face, and the others opened fire at it's face as well. Growling angrily, the Queen seemed more annoyed than hurt, and it roared loudly and charged forward.
With every step the Queen took, loud 'boom' sounds could be heard and the floor dented and broke under its massive weight. Within a few seconds, the Queen reached them.
"WATCH OUT!!!" Sophie screamed as the Queen lowered its head and its jaws came sweeping down at them. With a loud crunch, it's jaws slammed shut on mid air as everyone jumped out of its way. "RUN!!! RUN!!!" Jack cried in panic as he stumbled to his feet, blindly firing at the Queen's body. Bullets bounched off its thick hide harmlessly and it roared again, as if mocking Jack.
Raising a single leg into the air, the Queen slammed its foot down at Jack and he leaped away. Debris and dust flew about while Jack ran and the others opened fire at the Queen's head. Turning its head, the Queen now faced Mike and he froze in fear.
Bending down, the Queen opened its jaws and tried to swallow Mike but it was too big and bulky. Mike narrowly avoided its terrible jaws as he crouched down, its maw sweeping past his head, just inches away. Frustated, it reared up and raised two legs this time.
Surprisingly, Mike dashed forward under the Queen's belly. Easily evading its two storming feet, Mike raised his Shotgun and pumped several direct hits at its soft, un-protected belly. Grunting in anger, the Queen stomped its feet down on Mike, repeatedly, as he dodged left and right, several times narrowly avoiding getting crushed.
Mike now understood what it was like to be a bug getting crushed by several kids, he used to do it when he was young.
"MIKE!!!" Jack shouted as he, Reza and Sophie fired many rounds at the Queen's face. Unfortunately, it seemed bent on squashing Mike as it now seemed to dance, legs raising up and stomping down over and over again. Mike stumbled around, shooting upwards at its belly every now and then. Eventually though, showered by painful debris and extremely tired, Mike could no longer shoot the great beast as he dodged around for his survival.
Fortunately, Jack got lucky and one of his wild shots went into the Queen's eye. Wincing in pain, it stopped for a moment and Mike managed to speed away just as the Queen's foot slammed down, only several inches behind him.
At last, everyone sped away from the Queen as it took after them, determined to kill them all.

"HURRY!!! THE LIFT IS JUST UP AHEAD!!!" Jack yelled as he sprayed his HMG bullets into the Kharaas blocking his way and Mike, Sophie and Reza followed closely behind. The rows of Kharaas moved apart, and the B2 lift was in sight, just another 20 or so metres ahead. The thundering footsteps of the Queen was getting closer and closer, it was gaining on them!
Being the last, Reza glanced back. "Where's the Queen?!" He thought in surprise. A shadow fell over him and he looked up. The belly of the Queen was right above him! It was directly upon him! Up close, Reza could see veins, spikes and unsightly growths underneth its mammoth belly.
A gigantic foot stomped down right in front of Reza, and he fell back in shock, dropping his gun. "REZA!!!" Everyone cried as they fired at the Queen's body. Reza looked up again to see the bottom of a gigantic foot coming down directly at him.
Reza leapt away, but his guns were crushed underneth the Queen's foot. Staggering up, Reza tried running towards the others, but the Queen wasn't as dumb as to let the same thing happen again.
Swinging its whole body suddenly, the Queen's tail swept across the floor, and hit Reza with a monsterous strength.
Crying out in pain, Reza flew away to the other side and smashed into the wall. Crashing down, Reza laid, sprawled on the floor, and the other Kharaas hurried away as the Queen approached Reza's body.
"Reza! Get up! It's coming!" Jack screamed as he charged towards Reza. Still Reza did not move. The Queen was fast approaching the fallen marine. Reza coughed, and he pushed himself up with two clammy hands and slumped against the wall. A trickle of blood was flowing down Reza's forehead and the Queen now towered over Reza. Still, looks of courage and bravery was still in Reza's eyes.
"RUN!!! RUN AWAY YOU FOOL!!! DO NOT GET HERE OR YOU WILL BE KILLED AS WELL!!! LEAVE ME AND RUN!!!" Reza shouted to Jack.
"NO!!! YOU ARE OUR COMMANDER AND WE CANNOT LEAVE YOU!!!" Jack cried.
"MY LEGS ARE BROKEN!!! I CAN NO LONGER FIGHT!!! TAKE THIS AND GO STOP THE NUKE!!! OR BURT AND I WOULD HAD DIED FOR NOTHING!!!" Reza screamed and choked out blood.
The Queen leaned down towards Reza and a long sticky tongue slipped out it's jaws. Wrapping around Reza waist, the tongue lifted Reza up and towards the Queen's mouth. Instantly, Reza could feel a burning and painful sensation around his waist, as if the saliva of the Queen was acidic. Reza yanked something from his wrist and hurled it towards Jack. It hit the floor and slided to Jack's feet. As Reza was pulled to the Queen's jaws, he could see the sticky saliva on its lips, rows of sharp teeth lining its gums, and darkness on its throat. Smiling, Reza pulled off the pin of his B-Grenade before he was pulled into the jaws of the Queen. Snapping its jaws shut, the Queen swallowed Reza completely.
Everyone stood rooted with horror as the Queen let out a roar of triumphant. Jack bent down and picked up the object, Reza's watch. He was gone, he was really gone.......................
Jack sped back towards Sophie and Mike who were already in the B2 lift. And as he reached them, he saw looks of horror and shock in their faces. Gripping Reza's watch in his palm tightly, Jack punched the 'down' button. The thunderous footsteps of the Queen grew louder as the steel doors slammed shut.
There was the sound of a huge explosion and the dying cry of the Queen which was followed by the loud growling and angry roars of the other Kharaas. As the lift began to move down, Jack collasped to his knees.

You should not have posted that, I went back and reread the chapter for mistakes. Oh woe is me you spoilt my reading enjoyment, j/k. Do commas still exist or have they gone out of english tuition?
thought I 've seen it all, should not that be, (thought I'd) as in I had. Fourth line union or unison not entirely sure. Queen was about 18 metres, you lost the s. Love the use of pillar-ed, but feets.
I hate doing this to a story because I go looking for mistakes instead of enjoying the experience. The school can be the best in the universe Fire, it does not exclude mistakes being made.
Last gripe and I refuse to do this again or for the rest of the chapter/story.

Jack coughed, and as he raised a clammy palm to his lips, he vomited blood.
"Commander Reza.....he......he......he did it......to save us all......he killed the Queen, he did......he died in glory, and so did Burt.........but we..........." Jack stammered as he weeped suddenly.
Sophie looked away as she wiped her eyes, and even Mike's eyes were sore and teary.
"FAREWELL REZA!!!" Mike cried loudly as he looked up, clenching his fist angrily.
They had just lost the most valuble member of their group. The smartest, the most experienced, the one who would surely knew what to do in times like this. But he was gone. Reza was gone. And once again, it was just the three of them. Sophie, Mike and Jack.
Jack stopped weeping and examined carefully Reza's watch. There was a slight chip on its side, likely to be from the impact from the fall from earlier, but it was still working quite well. On the watch was '0:46:15'. They only had fourty-six minutes left to stop the nukes.
"Reza must had set the watch for us, how thoughtful of him. He must had predicted something like this would happen........." Jack muttered as he passed the watch to Mike.
Sophie wiped away her tears, and she gasped loudly when she saw the many Lerk spikes still imbedded in Jack's and Mike's body.
"Guys, are you alright?" She asked worriedly. Before anyone could answer, the lift jolted and everyone stumbled to the floor.
"Look guys. We are at the 'Base Point Accessway'. If we move straight ahead, we could just pass through 'Prototype Testing Facility A10', 'Oil Purification', and finally reach the 'Missile Silo'!" Sophie said excitedly. "But first," She added. "We will have to do something about those nasty wounds"
Fortunately, majority of the spikes were stuck at their Nano-Armor but some went into their flesh. Whenever Jack pulled out a spike which was penetrating into his flesh, he would winched in pain. There would be a sudden jolt of pain, and underneth the hole on his Nano-Armor, black blood would flow out.
In a short while, everyone's Kharra-blood-stained armor was filled with multiple holes, many of which were covered in fresh blood. The floor was littered with Lerks spikes, and slumping against a wall, Jack chewed on a final MRE while Sophie applied some pain-killers on his wounds.
Mike adjusted Reza's watch on his wrist while Sophie and Jack consumed their MREs hastily. "Here guys, our last few gulps of water" Sophie passed her water-bottle around as everyone drank a few slips and passed it on, this went on round and round till the water bottle was finally empty.
Mike "Before we move out, check our equipment first. I will start. I still have a fully-loaded Shotgun with 12 spare bullets, my mini-map is working and Reza's watch is with me" Jack "Oh well, my turn. I still have a partially-loaded HMG without spare bullets, my mini-map is working and bascially......that's all" Sophie "I have a fully-loaded HMG without any spare bullets, my mini-map is working, that's all" Mike "Good, our time left is forty-two minutes left. Let's go!"
Dumping empty packs of MREs, the water bottle and everything else un-neccessary, Mike pressed the 'open' button and the lift door slowly slided open.
They were going to fulfil Reza's final promise to Burt, not just that. They were going to save Earth. Whatever challenges laid ahead, they did not know, but they were ready to face it together.

"Holy Crap! This place is amazing!" Jack exclaimed loudly as everyone stepped out of the lift. Ahead of them was a corridor metres wide and so long that they couldn't see the end of it. It was glowing brightly, as if the entire corridor was made of silver. Bright lights lined the tall ceiling and the floor was cold and metallic. Amazingly, not even the slightest dirt or stain or Bacterium infestation was visible, it was like this place had never been used before.
Mike walked to the right and read a small sign 'Base Point Accessway'.
Mike "It will be a long walk, but we have to hurry. Come!" Sophie "Luck has been on our side, for I do not see the slightest trail of Bacterium" Mike "Maybe, but time will tell for it is too early to assume anything" Jack "Whatever, but guys, walk slow, cause my knee still hurts!" Mike "I know, its pretty amazing you made it so far, Jack" Jack "It is?" Mike "Yes, for not everyone can go through even half of what you had went through" Sophie "Whatever, lead the way Mike"
Everyone became silent, and followed Mike closely as he plodded forward, eyes darting about, Shotgun in hand, ready to shoot anything inhuman that should come close.
For a long time, no one talked. The air was still and the entire walkway was as quiet as a grave. Except for their loud footsteps which echoed through the entire walkway, there was no other sound. The silence was........uncomfortable. Everyone breathed heavily and could hear their nervous heartbeat. And as they continued to move on, the silence became unbearable. They could almost hear unrecognizable whispers at the cold walls. Even though there was clearly no signs of Bacterium growths, everyone got an uncomfortable feeling that something bad was going to happen. The feeling gradually grew, and they found themselves looking up quickly, or glancing back over their shoulders, as if a Kharaa was ready to sneak up on them. Yet no tentacles emerged from the walls, no skulk leaped, there was nothing.
How long had they been walking? Twenty minutes? Thirty minutes? An hour perhaps? Mike glanced at Reza's watch. Impossible, it was 0:34:49. Not even ten minutes had passed, and yet it felt like a really long time. The loss of blood must be affecting his mind, Mike decided. Yet, Mike still felt uncertain. Was there an end to this endless walkway?
Several times in a row, Jack found his vision fading, but he quickly regained himself by shaking his head several times, to which Sophie would stare at him in concern. Until at long last, they could see the end of the walkway. A colossal silver wall with a huge metal door in the middle.
Sophie sighed in relief, they had reached the other side at last, and as she fastened her pace, Jack stopped suddenly.
Mike "What is it?" Sophie "You okay?" Jack "The air........it feels.......foul" Sophie "Excuse me?" Mike "Foul? As in.....what?" Jack "I don't know......it just feels foul, just kind of unusual, or......funny, indescribible" Mike "I don't understand but even if the air is foul, it shouldn't delay us in any way" Jack "Uh......sure, just move on"
Mike ignored Jack as he strided forward hastily, and he stopped as well. Mike's sharp ears were the first to pick out the sounds. There was a very slight <span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>boom</span></span> at the left. It was followed by several <span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>thumb</span></span>. Mike listened carefully, the noise was coming from something faraway, from the left wall, slightly behind them.
"The air is indeed foul I fear" Mike said at last. "Something is coming"
Mike raised his shotgun as he spun around. "We are not alone"

"Oh god.......oh god.......it's the Queen" Sophie stammered as she trembled in fear.
"The Queen........now I understand..........." Reza muttered as he faltered and leaned down.
"And I thought I 've seen it all already" Mike added.
"Whatever it is, all we have to do is to kill it right?" Jack questioned. The others looked at him in unison, and nodded. They had to kill it.
The Queen was about 18 metres high and 30 metres long. It's 100 ton body was pillar-ed on 4 enormous feets which ended in sharp claws. Huge spikes and fat tentacles grew out of its back and its tail was lined with many small jagged spikes. Its gaping jaw was dripping with saliva and a long sineous wet tongue stuck out through its fearsome teeth. Its two large eyes were cruel and filled with malice and it let out another ear-piercing bellow. This was the Queen of the Kharaa.
Jack "Reza, now what?"
Reza "You tell me"
Mike "Running like hell would be a good idea......if not for all the smaller Kharaas"
Reza "Screw it, just shoot"
The other Kharaas retreated as the Queen fixed its eyes on the 4 humans. Cursing, Jack fired madly at the Queen's face, and the others opened fire at it's face as well. Growling angrily, the Queen seemed more annoyed than hurt, and it roared loudly and charged forward.
With every step the Queen took, loud 'boom' sounds could be heard and the floor dented and broke under its massive weight. Within a few seconds, the Queen reached them.
"WATCH OUT!!!" Sophie screamed as the Queen lowered its head and its jaws came sweeping down at them. With a loud crunch, it's jaws slammed shut on mid air as everyone jumped out of its way. "RUN!!! RUN!!!" Jack cried in panic as he stumbled to his feet, blindly firing at the Queen's body. Bullets bounched off its thick hide harmlessly and it roared again, as if mocking Jack.
Raising a single leg into the air, the Queen slammed its foot down at Jack and he leaped away. Debris and dust flew about while Jack ran and the others opened fire at the Queen's head. Turning its head, the Queen now faced Mike and he froze in fear.
Bending down, the Queen opened its jaws and tried to swallow Mike but it was too big and bulky. Mike narrowly avoided its terrible jaws as he crouched down, its maw sweeping past his head, just inches away. Frustated, it reared up and raised two legs this time.
Surprisingly, Mike dashed forward under the Queen's belly. Easily evading its two storming feet, Mike raised his Shotgun and pumped several direct hits at its soft, un-protected belly. Grunting in anger, the Queen stomped its feet down on Mike, repeatedly, as he dodged left and right, several times narrowly avoiding getting crushed.
Mike now understood what it was like to be a bug getting crushed by several kids, he used to do it when he was young.
"MIKE!!!" Jack shouted as he, Reza and Sophie fired many rounds at the Queen's face. Unfortunately, it seemed bent on squashing Mike as it now seemed to dance, legs raising up and stomping down over and over again. Mike stumbled around, shooting upwards at its belly every now and then. Eventually though, showered by painful debris and extremely tired, Mike could no longer shoot the great beast as he dodged around for his survival.
Fortunately, Jack got lucky and one of his wild shots went into the Queen's eye. Wincing in pain, it stopped for a moment and Mike managed to speed away just as the Queen's foot slammed down, only several inches behind him.
At last, everyone sped away from the Queen as it took after them, determined to kill them all.

I will be posting information and reference to all the Kharaas in Behemoth after the story is completely finish. Believe me guys, theres worst things than the Queen.

"HURRY!!! THE LIFT IS JUST UP AHEAD!!!" Jack yelled as he sprayed his HMG bullets into the Kharaas blocking his way and Mike, Sophie and Reza followed closely behind. The rows of Kharaas moved apart, and the B2 lift was in sight, just another 20 or so metres ahead. The thundering footsteps of the Queen was getting closer and closer, it was gaining on them!
Being the last, Reza glanced back. "Where's the Queen?!" He thought in surprise. A shadow fell over him and he looked up. The belly of the Queen was right above him! It was directly upon him! Up close, Reza could see veins, spikes and unsightly growths underneth its mammoth belly.
A gigantic foot stomped down right in front of Reza, and he fell back in shock, dropping his gun. "REZA!!!" Everyone cried as they fired at the Queen's body. Reza looked up again to see the bottom of a gigantic foot coming down directly at him.
Reza leapt away, but his guns were crushed underneth the Queen's foot. Staggering up, Reza tried running towards the others, but the Queen wasn't as dumb as to let the same thing happen again.
Swinging its whole body suddenly, the Queen's tail swept across the floor, and hit Reza with a monsterous strength.
Crying out in pain, Reza flew away to the other side and smashed into the wall. Crashing down, Reza laid, sprawled on the floor, and the other Kharaas hurried away as the Queen approached Reza's body.
"Reza! Get up! It's coming!" Jack screamed as he charged towards Reza. Still Reza did not move. The Queen was fast approaching the fallen marine. Reza coughed, and he pushed himself up with two clammy hands and slumped against the wall. A trickle of blood was flowing down Reza's forehead and the Queen now towered over Reza. Still, looks of courage and bravery was still in Reza's eyes.
"RUN!!! RUN AWAY YOU FOOL!!! DO NOT GET HERE OR YOU WILL BE KILLED AS WELL!!! LEAVE ME AND RUN!!!" Reza shouted to Jack.
"NO!!! YOU ARE OUR COMMANDER AND WE CANNOT LEAVE YOU!!!" Jack cried.
"MY LEGS ARE BROKEN!!! I CAN NO LONGER FIGHT!!! TAKE THIS AND GO STOP THE NUKE!!! OR BURT AND I WOULD HAD DIED FOR NOTHING!!!" Reza screamed and choked out blood.
The Queen leaned down towards Reza and a long sticky tongue slipped out it's jaws. Wrapping around Reza waist, the tongue lifted Reza up and towards the Queen's mouth. Instantly, Reza could feel a burning and painful sensation around his waist, as if the saliva of the Queen was acidic. Reza yanked something from his wrist and hurled it towards Jack. It hit the floor and slided to Jack's feet. As Reza was pulled to the Queen's jaws, he could see the sticky saliva on its lips, rows of sharp teeth lining its gums, and darkness on its throat. Smiling, Reza pulled off the pin of his B-Grenade before he was pulled into the jaws of the Queen. Snapping its jaws shut, the Queen swallowed Reza completely.
Everyone stood rooted with horror as the Queen let out a roar of triumphant. Jack bent down and picked up the object, Reza's watch. He was gone, he was really gone.......................
Jack sped back towards Sophie and Mike who were already in the B2 lift. And as he reached them, he saw looks of horror and shock in their faces. Gripping Reza's watch in his palm tightly, Jack punched the 'down' button. The thunderous footsteps of the Queen grew louder as the steel doors slammed shut.
There was the sound of a huge explosion and the dying cry of the Queen which was followed by the loud growling and angry roars of the other Kharaas. As the lift began to move down, Jack collasped to his knees.

I hate doing this to a story because I go looking for mistakes instead of enjoying the experience. The school can be the best in the universe Fire, it does not exclude mistakes being made.
Last gripe and I refuse to do this again or for the rest of the chapter/story.

Jack coughed, and as he raised a clammy palm to his lips, he vomited blood.
"Commander Reza.....he......he......he did it......to save us all......he killed the Queen, he did......he died in glory, and so did Burt.........but we..........." Jack stammered as he weeped suddenly.
Sophie looked away as she wiped her eyes, and even Mike's eyes were sore and teary.
"FAREWELL REZA!!!" Mike cried loudly as he looked up, clenching his fist angrily.
They had just lost the most valuble member of their group. The smartest, the most experienced, the one who would surely knew what to do in times like this. But he was gone. Reza was gone. And once again, it was just the three of them. Sophie, Mike and Jack.
Jack stopped weeping and examined carefully Reza's watch. There was a slight chip on its side, likely to be from the impact from the fall from earlier, but it was still working quite well. On the watch was '0:46:15'. They only had fourty-six minutes left to stop the nukes.
"Reza must had set the watch for us, how thoughtful of him. He must had predicted something like this would happen........." Jack muttered as he passed the watch to Mike.
Sophie wiped away her tears, and she gasped loudly when she saw the many Lerk spikes still imbedded in Jack's and Mike's body.
"Guys, are you alright?" She asked worriedly. Before anyone could answer, the lift jolted and everyone stumbled to the floor.
"Look guys. We are at the 'Base Point Accessway'. If we move straight ahead, we could just pass through 'Prototype Testing Facility A10', 'Oil Purification', and finally reach the 'Missile Silo'!" Sophie said excitedly. "But first," She added. "We will have to do something about those nasty wounds"
Fortunately, majority of the spikes were stuck at their Nano-Armor but some went into their flesh. Whenever Jack pulled out a spike which was penetrating into his flesh, he would winched in pain. There would be a sudden jolt of pain, and underneth the hole on his Nano-Armor, black blood would flow out.
In a short while, everyone's Kharra-blood-stained armor was filled with multiple holes, many of which were covered in fresh blood. The floor was littered with Lerks spikes, and slumping against a wall, Jack chewed on a final MRE while Sophie applied some pain-killers on his wounds.
Mike adjusted Reza's watch on his wrist while Sophie and Jack consumed their MREs hastily. "Here guys, our last few gulps of water" Sophie passed her water-bottle around as everyone drank a few slips and passed it on, this went on round and round till the water bottle was finally empty.
Mike "Before we move out, check our equipment first. I will start. I still have a fully-loaded Shotgun with 12 spare bullets, my mini-map is working and Reza's watch is with me"
Jack "Oh well, my turn. I still have a partially-loaded HMG without spare bullets, my mini-map is working and bascially......that's all"
Sophie "I have a fully-loaded HMG without any spare bullets, my mini-map is working, that's all"
Mike "Good, our time left is forty-two minutes left. Let's go!"
Dumping empty packs of MREs, the water bottle and everything else un-neccessary, Mike pressed the 'open' button and the lift door slowly slided open.
They were going to fulfil Reza's final promise to Burt, not just that. They were going to save Earth. Whatever challenges laid ahead, they did not know, but they were ready to face it together.

"Holy Crap! This place is amazing!" Jack exclaimed loudly as everyone stepped out of the lift. Ahead of them was a corridor metres wide and so long that they couldn't see the end of it. It was glowing brightly, as if the entire corridor was made of silver. Bright lights lined the tall ceiling and the floor was cold and metallic. Amazingly, not even the slightest dirt or stain or Bacterium infestation was visible, it was like this place had never been used before.
Mike walked to the right and read a small sign 'Base Point Accessway'.
Mike "It will be a long walk, but we have to hurry. Come!"
Sophie "Luck has been on our side, for I do not see the slightest trail of Bacterium"
Mike "Maybe, but time will tell for it is too early to assume anything"
Jack "Whatever, but guys, walk slow, cause my knee still hurts!"
Mike "I know, its pretty amazing you made it so far, Jack"
Jack "It is?"
Mike "Yes, for not everyone can go through even half of what you had went through"
Sophie "Whatever, lead the way Mike"
Everyone became silent, and followed Mike closely as he plodded forward, eyes darting about, Shotgun in hand, ready to shoot anything inhuman that should come close.
For a long time, no one talked. The air was still and the entire walkway was as quiet as a grave. Except for their loud footsteps which echoed through the entire walkway, there was no other sound. The silence was........uncomfortable. Everyone breathed heavily and could hear their nervous heartbeat. And as they continued to move on, the silence became unbearable. They could almost hear unrecognizable whispers at the cold walls. Even though there was clearly no signs of Bacterium growths, everyone got an uncomfortable feeling that something bad was going to happen. The feeling gradually grew, and they found themselves looking up quickly, or glancing back over their shoulders, as if a Kharaa was ready to sneak up on them. Yet no tentacles emerged from the walls, no skulk leaped, there was nothing.
How long had they been walking? Twenty minutes? Thirty minutes? An hour perhaps? Mike glanced at Reza's watch. Impossible, it was 0:34:49. Not even ten minutes had passed, and yet it felt like a really long time. The loss of blood must be affecting his mind, Mike decided. Yet, Mike still felt uncertain. Was there an end to this endless walkway?
Several times in a row, Jack found his vision fading, but he quickly regained himself by shaking his head several times, to which Sophie would stare at him in concern. Until at long last, they could see the end of the walkway. A colossal silver wall with a huge metal door in the middle.
Sophie sighed in relief, they had reached the other side at last, and as she fastened her pace, Jack stopped suddenly.
Mike "What is it?"
Sophie "You okay?"
Jack "The air........it feels.......foul"
Sophie "Excuse me?"
Mike "Foul? As in.....what?"
Jack "I don't know......it just feels foul, just kind of unusual, or......funny, indescribible"
Mike "I don't understand but even if the air is foul, it shouldn't delay us in any way"
Jack "Uh......sure, just move on"
Mike ignored Jack as he strided forward hastily, and he stopped as well. Mike's sharp ears were the first to pick out the sounds. There was a very slight <span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>boom</span></span> at the left. It was followed by several <span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>thumb</span></span>. Mike listened carefully, the noise was coming from something faraway, from the left wall, slightly behind them.
"The air is indeed foul I fear" Mike said at last. "Something is coming"
Mike raised his shotgun as he spun around. "We are not alone"
Its getting better and better and better and better...
