I'm going to have to go with "Onosesessses" as one alien player put it.

Seeing as that's not there, I'll go with Oni because it puts the marines in a tizzy while they type chat argue over what the plural form is while we get a bazillion typing kills :-D

Only words that end in "us" end with "i" in plural form, so it would have to be called "Onus" (which I heard means 'blame' in latin by the by) to be called "oni" in plural form.
Strictly grammatically, it is Onos in singularis and pluralis.
But since it's a fictional name, you can say whatever the heck you want

so far there are two people that sayd they voted "oni" by accident, so thats
-2 votes for "oni", +2 votes for "onos"

and there are also alot of suckups that voted for "oni"

I've played this game more than a year and believe it or not I've never EVER seen or heard the word "oni" in a game.

I vote for the pointless comedy 3rd option

In the event that the poll is lacking a pointless comedy 3rd option, i vote for the inclusion of a pointless comedy 3rd option which i would then subsequently vote for.

That is all.

Actually they are both correct (this from an English Masters)

HOWEVER!

Oni = plural in the ambiguous case
Onos = singular / plural in the difinitive case

Examples:
The Onos is a fearsome alien organism. (correct)
Onos are fearsome alien organisms. (incorrect)
The Onos are fearsome alien organisms. (incorrect)
2 Onos are a fearsome force. (correct)
Oni are fearsome alien organisms. (correct)
2 Oni are a fearsome force. (incorrect)

One rule we should all remember from grade school (that is if you made it out of there) is that just because it "sounds" right does not mean it "is" right.

According to the phrasing of the poll answers the correct option has to be Oni because the adjective if ambiguous.

The question that bugs me is what the correct pronunciation is. Granted, the english language prides it self on the fact that there's no such thing as "correct" pronunciation, only "preferred" pronunciation. So let me ask this (and maybe this could be another poll:

How is Onos pronounced?
1. <ah' noss>
2. <oh' noss>
3. <ah' nahss>
4. <oh' nahss>
(options for second stressed syllable left out as they are not likely options)

I've heard them pronounced all 4 of these ways and variably pronounce them either 1 or 2. May I remind you that if the case is that the pronunciation varies in different situations it is possible that the pronunciation implies plurality as well.

[EDIT: Added one more example]

I stick by my argument and still waiting for someone to prove me wrong.

Whatever the plural of RHINOCEROS is (coz im not certain what it is) is what the plural of onos should be!! Coz the rhino is pretty close to onos and ends the same.

Silly Flayra, you forgot Onii =P

I usually just say 2 onos, or 3 onos. I actually use onos, but I prefer onii. I don't know why =P

So, I don't really use either of these. Though I like onii more, so /me chooses that.

Which reminds me, which side are YOU on Flayra?

Case closed, I win. It can be Onoses, Onos, or Oni. As someone suggested, rhinoceros has the same ending as onos, so I looked it up.

Rhinoceros - plural Rhinoceroses, Rhinoceros, or Rhinoceri.

That is from the encyclopedia boys. There is no reason why onos should be any different. So it can be any of them, so we are all right.
