I've been trying the bh thing for quite a while now... and I still feel it's unnatural. Illogically gaining speed destroys the immersion , and limits the diversity of your evasive manoeuvers : I used to be an ace at spiralling , now I tend to run straight towards marines after breaking out of bh ! Besides , bh is somewhat painful , I mean , sacrificing the mouse wheel binds just to jump faster , stressing fingers to perfectly time strafing , and having to avoid every single bit of architecture to not lose speed... that's not worth the pretended "fun" in hopping.
bh and other small exploits slowly corrode the fun of the game , people care more about frags and effectiveness and less about thinking and teamplay. I've made up my mind and gave the precious mouse wheel back to the weapon switching functions (so I can afford to quickly shoot parasites , umbra or acid rockets , and not just leap bite or blink swipe) ; shift is sufficient to bh as a gorge in a hurry.
My suggestion for 3.0 : let aliens bunnyhop in NS Combat , and disable bh in classic NS completely.
Stakhanov, what have you been smoking? And why shouldn't the aliens be able to bunnyjump? We all know how cute the gorge bounces around. A skulk wouldn't be a skulk if you made it unable to jump. Maybe fades and onos would have som difficulties irl.

I use the +3jump script in that tutorial, and it's made bhopping pretty fun, and makes it easier to bhop in general. As for the immersion, I lost that feeling after my first month of NS, kinda like how you get tired of a good song. Happens to everyone eventually.

It may take some effort to do it properly and training to get it dead on, but it is not a skill. It is an exploit. There is a bug, or an anomaly if you will, in the HL physics engine which can be traced back to quake one which is the cause of the effect, and the only reason it is still around today is because to fix it either restricts movement or would require a full engine re-write.
Using it gains you an advantage over the opponent through a method not intended by the creators and due to the way the alien team works, restricting it would really hurt them, as they're supposed to be the quick and agile side.
Think of it as running a marathon, and while you do, you take a shortcut which was not part of the run, thus beating your opponents. You may finish first, but it's a hollow victory and it is cheating, even if none of the judges saw you do it. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Guess what, Quake I, II and III were all different engines. Some skinz will do that for you ("Aliens" film skin,) but most servers count this as cheating, as it does effect gameplay.
Just click ur mouse button really fast, or bind a button to doubleclick. No more.
Some say bunnyhopping is crap. I say it's not. Some games, such as Action Quake 2, are so much based on strafejumping, that you can't even move in the map if you don't know how to jump around. You just simply can't jump from a roof to another. But if you do a small circlejump, it goes easily. There is no good AQ2 player that doesn't strafejump, because you'll get slaughtered in an instant otherwise.
If the bunnyhopping won't be disabled, well, NS isn't going to go as dependant from it as Aq2 did, because marines can't bhop, but anyways, after a year or few, every good player _will_ be bunnyhopping with aliens, says me.

it can be limited
now if u do the tfc's chop hop, that is an exploit, because u cannot limit it
bah, ya, I was playing last week, got boring
LOL
Well, the only alien which can benefit bhopping are 1-hive skulks and gorges
Gorges lack speed and it benefits them

yeah, it benifits them alot.
I remember being smoked by a gorge in eclipse, little sucker was moving so fast in a scrim.
