As much as the aliens may like it I <b>hate</b> walking down a corridoor and then dying with no warning because some skulk bits me. Or even worse as a squad going in and getting taken out by walking skulks.
You may see this as bad grapes or whatever and although the system is "even" it still is largely the most irritating problem to come up against (Yes they probably were good aliens but when your running around trying to do something and you don't even know where death comes from it makes the NS experience less than enjoyable. In fact if used a lot this tactic can make a good game suddenly sink into suckitude)
It brought me to the point after a game where this "tactic" was abused to hurling my trackball out the window, yelling at the moniter very loud activating the NS Uninstaller in a fit of fury and then playing some CS to get over it.
There was once when I tried to Command for NS_Nothing for the first time ever.
I mean, theres a first time to everything right? Some day or another, you gonna learn to try commanding in this map so this was what I did. At first, things started out fine, then I let everyone knew I was commanding in this map for the very first time ever. In fact, I have almost never ever commanded before.
Eventually though, my incredible lack of commanding skills dispite my greatest efforts began to turn into an alien-slaughter-marines game.
While much of the Marines pretty much did their job, the members of a clan I decided not to name repeatedly refused to obey the waypoints or instructions. They purposely commited sucide, go completely wrong ways, and insulted me over and over again. "NOOB" They would chant over and over again. " ****ing Noob! LEAVE THE GAME!!! " Eventually, I got so angry and that Marines were really gonna lose anytime, I place a CC in a hidden area for fun. A member of the clan saw it, built it and enter it. When I called him to leave, he didn't want to. The aliens took a really long time before they could finally destroy him. At that time, they were all very angry and that clan member said " It's FireEel's fault! He tricked me hes an admin and that if I did not stay there and delay the game, he would kick me!"

Oh yeah and you should play on <b>real</b> pub servers, not disguised clanner servers. Some of the best pub servers are the one that have a constant player base that is completely clan-free, i.e. they know each other, but not as one clan member knows another. It can sometimes improve gameplay value.

Why is everyone only talking about cloaking? Scent of fear is the better upgrade, and DOES give you both an offensive and defensive advantage. As a Onos/fade, you can avoid running into a pack of 6 marines, which you would likely die if you didn't know that beforehand. With cloaking you have to wait for them to come to you...with SOF you can pick just the right moment to jump out and bite them.

This one time, there was an onos, and it was on ns_nothing. So he was comming to generator from the viaduct hive, and used the elevator.
Since I heard the footsteps, and saw the elevator going up, I used my uber-arse command console hax0rz skills, and clicked the elevator. It stopped in the middle of the shaft, with the onos on it. He couldnt go up, or down. So, we traped him there the whole game.
Its a wonder why he didnt kill himself. I guess he didnt have enough res to go onos again, but man, thats gotta be fustrating as hell. Especally when four or five marines sit at the top looking and laughing at you.
(PS This really happened, no jokin) <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> I think that was me! lol Yeah, I dont remember exactly what happened.. I think I crawled down there to get this marine that was trying to hide, but then the damn elevator comes down on top of me.. I'm fine with it since it doesn't kill you immediatley and I have regen, but then I realise that I can't get out. Well I proceed to kill 3 or 4 morons who jump down and get in front of me.. I'm trying to get my teammates to go up and hit the damn button and bring it back up. Of course they all seemed content to let the only Onos on the team at the time sit there helpless. Eventually you get heavy armor and weapons.. and I die.. I was about to kill myself anyway.

Seriously, it almost turned me away from NS. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> You know, there's a perfectly fine strategy to counter s-chambers. Scan areas and build observatories. One costs little, the other is completely free.
Getting back on topic, I just had a game that **** me off pretty bad. It was some pseudo combination of many of these things together. Obviously we had a coulple sucky people on our team, but we had a few good ones as well, so it was fine. The game starts off and I go gorge along with some other guy and proceed to Gorgify a shotgunner and lmg that was with him trying to secure Vent. We proceeded to take most of the res on the map and get three hives. The other players are harassing enough, I'm thinking it's a sure win.
Once the third hive pops up, I start dropping movements and plop over to BioDome. I hear heavies lurking about killing our nearby res in Xeno. I try getting other players to cover me when I web them, but nobody comes. They proceed to start advancing on Bio, I call for more help. Nobody comes. The Onos is busy killing their base, not realising that marines can set up a base anywhere they want, and us keeping hives is a greater priority. I manage to stay alive, but in 5 minutes or so the hive dies. They start building a base and I die as soon as the observatory finishes.
It's alright though since we just set them back a lot. We still have two hives. We still control most of the resource towers. I'm still thinking it's a sure win. All we need to do is team up and kill thier new outpost in Bio. Then half of our team leaves. Auto_conceed conceeds.
That didn't **** me off enough to leave the server. (I have been numerous times though.) I had to leave a few minutes later however, and it just seemed so dumb.
its absolutely lovely when the marines weld the vents in waste.. then relocate to the room between waste and research labs... hand out like 5 gl... and gl spam the one little entrance into the room....
3 hives doesent do ****.. and onos cant even fit in there.... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Start off, we all aggreed on DC's someone goes build an SC. We do ok, get the second hive up and we went to get DC's but some **** head but up MC's and we lost our hive to 2 marines.....
