Wow, Another Gun!

Anyways, this is a slight varient of the UT2003 gun. I don't know if it was already made, but I'm too lazy to check and this looked like a fun peice to do.

First thing I noticed was the eXploder style grip (and magazine apparently) directly in front of the rear magazine.

So, I started with Jaegers converted eXploder, deleted everything but the grip/trigger/magazine/barrel cover part, and rebuilt everything from there up.

First thing I wanted to do was keep the forward magazine and call it a 50 round drum. Since I hate combo guns, I removed the rear magazine all together and the other barrel. I wanted a more pointy barrel like a FAMAS kinda, so I did that as well. The rail confuses me angled like that, but since we're not actually USING it, I just winged it. And... thats pretty much that.

It's quite high poly (1,300 something I think) but I suppose it can be optimized.

I hope the proportions are ok, it's hard to tell with 3/4ths view. All in all took me about an hour and a half or so

    Looks really great!! Especially those little holes in the front <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Holes rock in guns. Don't know why.

    Anyway, this baby needs a skinmesh :O . It still has the Compact Xploder textures there, but they are not assigned to anything. You should've deleted them <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    good point, I forgot to delete em

    I may have to remove the holes on the non visible side to save polys, although that particular part wasn't made by me.

    How did you get those holes in the front btw?

    The holes were put there by the original creater of the eXploder (The part with holes and the pistol grip were from an eXploder model)

    To actually PUT holes there is not difficult, although it does consume some time.

    Create cylinders (1 stack) reverse their order, and delete the two end faces. Put them in position in your box, delete the sides of the box leaving the edge faces only (in side view), and hide the vertexes you don't need. Use the face tool to create a new face integrating your "hole" and when your done, unhide the vertexes, isolate your next set, and rehide everything else you don't need; repeating the process

    Ahh! i just tried it, and it works! haha thanks champ!, and yes it is very time consuming, i dont understand what you mean by "hide the vertexes you don't need" and "unhide the vertexes, isolate your next set, and rehide everything else you don't need"?

    looks good, i was introduced to ut2k3 2 days ago.. LMG is mad, esp teh high bass firing sounds..

    Id say HMG!! Id love to skin this if someone gets a mesh.

    ANyway, just a couple of model suggestions - The nozzle of the gun needs to be shorter and stubbier. Also, the but of the gun needs a bit of polishing.

    If you polish this up, it would be AMAZING>

    Not entirely true.
    Played on a server where I downed or made a Fade redemp with a LMG as fast as a HMG.

    Well, models pretty much done. Just gotta find someone willing to skinmesh it; once thats done, a bunch of people are probably eager to give skinning a try even if they're new... then animating and schtuff....
