Just for my information, could someone tell me what all of the alien's upgrades do? I know celerity increases speed now, but the others i just pick one and hope it does me good (and of course cloaking gives me cloak when i'm still).
Hi, I'm fairly new to NS. I am from Los Angeles and I also like playing DoD, BF1942, SimCity 4 & RPGs (if I can get my hands on any). I used to play Baulder's Gate back in 99.
I like NS because of the "creepy” factor I love ambushing an unsuspecting marine, and being ambushed myself! (Haha, good one skulk player!)
I hope they keep on working on the creepy factor with darker stages, stranger noises, and maybe a personal motion tracker like from the AVP2 series. I’m all for stat and counter measures, and right now I’m having a tough time trying to figure out how to counter a pair of Heavies <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> and the early shot/jump hive rush. Wish they would fix this. Hope 1.1 get released soon!

Does not distinguish between friend or foe. Cloaking: renders you partially invisible. You will uncloak if you move or attack, and a scanner sweep will decloak you.
I mentioned in another post I found out that a gamespy server was time dependent (by accident), this should be pointed out to newbies, so they don't think they have done something wrong. (where's the panic button). I didn't see this in the manual very important I think.
Hi, the names Will im from VA (yawn) Im on my last year in High School and currently learning how to become a bowyer. I came accross NS by dumb luck lol. I was researching a biology paper on Natural Selction and i put .org than .com. So i decided to check it out. Im a veteran CS player, for about 3 years now, and since i saw this game i decided it was time to get a new game rather than play CS forever.
Got like 33 pages or so of people who have come to NS to play thier hearts out until it turns black and shrivels up... It is sure nice to be here and all but one thing that brought my rating down... The almighty annoying voice spammer... Or bind a key to "toggleedtips" and open up the scores screen, hit the key you bound to "toggleedtips" then click on the name you want. That also works fine.
REMEMBER: HIT THE BOUND KEY AGAIN TO DISABLE TOGGLEEDTIPS OR YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO USE YOUR MENU THINGY
Anyway yea this mod looks like it ownz0rs and yea i recently got straight into half-life mods cos i can actually RUN them on my bad computer yea anyway i am now going to become an NS junkie

and, i first heard about NS on a PC magazine. It was a couple of months ago.
you know, i was very skeptical about this mod when i first read the review.
to add to this, later on, a friend of mine who's a pro-gamer defined the game as "silly".
a week ago i just got too curious, and downloaded it.
half an hour later i just couldn't stop playing.
man this game is SO good you even have fun losing!
one of the first things i realized was that all my discrete DoD skillz were nearly useless (having a good aim helps against a Kraut infantryman......because the guy can't climb on ceilings and hop ten meters long!)
i played both sides on nearly all maps, but mostly as alien since there seems to be a general preference for marines.
i still have to play as commander. i tried the gorge once or twice, but aside from building res towers i still simply can't realize what to do next.

I thought it looked pretty cool. What other reasons do you guys play ns over cs for? I am interested to hear, don't laugh at me, just tell me what did it for you.

personally i tried NS the first time because i wanted something different, and i'm pretty damn glad i did.
what NS did for me? hours and hours of never-seen-before fusion of strategy and direct action fun! (well Sacrifice has it too of course, but you don't play it in 24 people)
soon there will be human vs human matches, also, so CS lovers will enjoy it more (and DoD ones of course).

i played both sides on nearly all maps, but mostly as alien since there seems to be a general preference for marines.
i still have to play as commander. i tried the gorge once or twice, but aside from building res towers i still simply can't realize what to do next.
this is a game i wanna get very good at!

I am new to ns of course, i've been playing for about a week and a half and i enjoy it very much. It just feels more cool to play then other fps games i've tried, cs included.
i hope i can get good enough to not waste everybodies time heh, i better go practice

i used to play DoD bcoz i don't like CS one bit (the reasons are many, and no, i'm not bad at playing it).
personally i tried NS the first time because i wanted something different, and i'm pretty damn glad i did.
what NS did for me? hours and hours of never-seen-before fusion of strategy and direct action fun! (well Sacrifice has it too of course, but you don't play it in 24 people)
soon there will be human vs human matches, also, so CS lovers will enjoy it more (and DoD ones of course).
