Deleted saved game keeps loading

I had an error loading my saved game the other night. I could not load the game. So I decided to delete the game and start over. When I tried to start a new survival game my deleted saved game world ended up loading. If I try to save my game the save game animation remains running and the progress is never saved. Some other things that I noticed. When the game is loading I hear the audio for a new game starting but then my old deleted game shows up on the screen.
I have tried to validate all my files several times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have tried to delete all files related to the game after uninstall. None of these actions has made any difference.

    Just checking because I know Xbox had a bunch of loading game issues for a while.

    Your saved games should be under %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames -- erase them from there (delete the "slot00xx" folders that you want to get rid of).

    Looks like that'll be your problem. Can you try to delete that TempSave folder?

    So presumably there needs to be an error message (or other visual feedback) displayed to the user when a delete fails. Silent failures are always bad.

    Yes and no. Yes, in a perfect world, they would assume all operations might fail and check for them. No, it isn't a perfect world, and some extremely rare cases are so extremely rare that if you checked for them, you would have a billion lines of error checking and no lines of actual game. :)

    Granted. But a high level exception handler with an informational popup is not hard to do.
