Regarding your update on composition, clicking apply before OK is a XP thing :D No need in Win7/8 (probably vista too, but dunno for sure)

Thanks! Composition fix worked for me! No more mouselag in dx9! ( dx9 runs on more fps for me, so I prefer it atm. over dx11 )

Disabling visual themes and desktop composition really helped for me. Between that and the mouse fix, this game feels better than ever. It's really fun to play again. I just hope these incidents didn't ruin other people's experiences with the game.

This thread should be stickied, even alot of the competitive players I play with are unaware of the fixes in this thread.

Everyone's PC is different, below are my results:
    1. DX9 = least input delay, highest FPS
    2. OpenGL = slight input delay maybe? (hard to tell). Low FPS.
    3. DX11 = high input delay, lowest FPS

    CPU: 2500K @ 4.6ghz
    GFX: gtx580

Will try disabling Aero and desktop composition tonight, sounds promising!

The suggested fixes didn't do the trick for me, my mouse still lags.
I did everything describes, even the click raw on/off, accel on/off..

Waiting for the next patch to give me back the performance i had pre-Reinforcement.

The Mumble overlay works fine for me under DX9, without significant fps drops. While running DX11 it does not appear. GPU is 680MX.

Wow, does this mean that the Spark Engine is based on the SDL library?! Sorry for the off-topic question, but I find it very interesting :)

The mouse accel and input row trick fix the input lag, but it remove the mouse accel, obvioulsy...
I want my mouse accel without input lag back ! :D Hope that will be fixed in next build.

The compatibility options are not available in Windows 8 as DWM needs to stay on, and cannot be disabled, so neither options are available...

disabling visual themes and desktop composition were a big improvement... but it still doesn't feel like raw input is on, feels like it's off (equivalent to playing a source engine game with raw input being off)

So is the game just not running properly fullscreen.. or did the patch change something with input? (which i hope can be fixed)

also this stopped the microstutter, game is kind of smooth now (dx9 still)

Disabling compositing isn't needed anymore. Just make sure to run the game in fullscreen mode instead of windowed fullscreen.

    On DX9 too.

I still recommend reverting to Win7 anyway though.

What kind of input lag are these fixes supposed to do? Is it obvious facepunching latencies?

Because the input lag I'm experiencing has not been affected at all by any of those fixes.

You should not be experiencing any input lag now, as all the actual fixes are in the game. If you still are, it might be due to a driver issue of some kind, or your input poll rate is too high.

    Suggestion:

    Download this:

    http://www.stermy.com/file.php?type=configs&file=DH winter Players setup.rar

Unpack. Go to Folder 'Windows accel fix and USB rate"

    Go into "USBHz_Win7_lk" folder

run "mouserate.exe" - see what your polling rate is by moving your mouse around a lot.

If it is over 500, then this might be too high and you might want to lower your rate.

If the rate is really low like 125Hz, you could try upping your polling rate.

Follow "Readme.txt"'s instructions in that folder and see how you get on.

How do you reduce polling rate on Windows 8? Win7 update system doesn't work. My mouse is currently polling at 1000hz (G500).

Closing this thread, it does not apply to the most recent patches. If you have input delay issues please start your own thread like ironsoul did.
