There was nothing interesting about ninja phase gates.

It's depressing that this needs to be repeated to such a regular forum user though I guess shouldn't expect more from you. The absence of ninja phase-gates is only one part of a more endemic issue. It's like the flashy tip of an iceberg that gets all the attention because it's the bit that's easy to spot, even for casual gamers like yourself.

Without power nodes, all structure placement is determined by far more interesting variables such as proximity to important locations, defensible map geometry, area convenience and even raw area size. As it is now, outposts are strictly confined by the power node variable in that you need to be positioned so that you can defend it.

So what exactly is your problem with them? You blatantly state that they aren't affecting your game in the slightest, unless its a fault of the mappers.

Psymple's point is that if mappers were faultless and placed power-nodes where they weren't problematic, you are left with a situation where you might as well get rid of them because of all of the other drawbacks that accompany the mechanic.

with my i7 3770k the only thing that makes my fps go below 40 is a room full of cysts. I've tested pretty much everything else, but infestation is the biggest culprit for low fps.

second.. the best way to trash fps is having structures and cysts in area of effect with each other

i dont know about bast, but ns2_tanith is a bit small but i have good feeling, the absence of infestation in NS:C is determinant for my fps, and the old maps, without the bull###### black-dark-brawn graphic of the news, are playable.

in ns2_tanith in ns:c an average of 80 fps
in the new veil in ns2 an average of 30 fps
in the "furnace crappy map" the average is 15 fps
