Is this a temporary fix until the camera animations are tweaked? This to me is the same as having an option to rotate the camera when the skulk is walking on walls/ceiling. It differentiates the games to much from player to player, especially when adding skulk/lerk tilt to the mix. If turning of camera shake when firing the rifle gives you an advantage then everyone will use it and there is no point of having that feature in the beginning. Not angry in any form, just asking. My 2 cents.

Well, you make a good point why have the option in there at all... we all loved turning it off so much (as marines), which is why it's off by default. Maybe we should just remove camera anim completely...

Better then always having to have the ceilings at the fixed height, or having to have cables or something handing down for the hive to attach to. And since Terminal and Cafe are not starting hives, this was set to a low priority.

Just a suggestion, though I don't know how hard it would be to do, is if the map makers could just place 4 entities in the map (on the ceiling, on something else, etc.), for where the hive attaches, and the engine moves the... attach0rs to those spots automatically in the game. That way it can work for whatever arbitrary location, and you can have different heights for the corners.
Anyway, loving the game so far, thanks for the patches guys and keep up the great work!

Back to desktop after 1-5 minutes.

After you crash, take a look at your "C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Natural Selection 2" folder and look at the log.txt file.
Then post the non chat parts here or give it to a developer.
I would very seriously like to play NS2, but I cannot. Trying to join a server reports "Couldn't establish a connection with the server," and after that error occurs, the server browser displays nothing. Quitting, waiting a few minutes for Steam to sync, and relaunching the game produces the same results. The Quick Join feature doesn't work either. I haven't played since 225. Looks pretty neat from the videos though.
A little more investigating shows that it's some weird network issue. My modem actually resets now upon trying to connect to a server. Really strange.
I realy like how the game turned out since I tried it out in the alpha stage.
It is a true NS with up to date graphic!
Sadly it is not runing perfectly for me.
I can run it in maximum detail and resulutions everything turned on and have great performance, but somewhy I have short hangups during the game.
It is very short but it hurts gameplay when in close combat for me.
Even if I set everything to minimum I still have this issue.
I have windows 8 64bit. All drivers are up to date.
Core2Quad 2.6ghz AMD ATI 7850 2G 4G DDRII 800mhz 120GB SSD for Operating System 1TB HDD for games (including steam and NS2)
Any idea?
Im not perfectly sure if it is NS2 related, maybe i have this issue in other games too, but maybe I didnt notice it because those dont have that fast combat like NS2 have.

It sounds like the problem I had after refreshing the server list (worked first time, but not second time). Anyway, it's easy to fix. In Steam, go to menus and choose: Steam > Settings > Downloads + Cloud > Game server browser: max pings / minute The number is probably too high, try setting it to 500 or 1000 or something and that should fix your problem!

The server browser needs a lot of UI/UX design work. I think UWE know this and they have just got it to a bare minimum standard for the launch.
Suggested short-term fix:

Remove 'game' column from server browser.

Remove 'game' text input filter.

Add a drop down list for game types.

Have all clients automatically populate the drop down list by getting a list of all unique game types currently running (select unique game_type from active_games). Default's to NS2 or the last game-type played.

Longer term, it will probably need a new tab 'Mods' eg: (Join/Quick Join/Start Server/Mods) showing a list of all game-mode mods, allowing me to browse, search, sort by popularity etc. From there, clicking on a mod returns me to the server browser, filtering by games of that type.

I used to get similar hitching on high texture details, setting it to medium fixed it for me. I have an old Q6600 with a 560ti and 4gigs of mediocre DDR2 ram. See if it works for you.
Thank you UWE for this update as I have a below spec com and I can run it smooth as butter on a favorable server. However, and I hate to be a bother but I am having some server issues where as I play more games on the same server my lag increases. Now this could be my less than optimal cpu but I really hope it's a bug because then it would be alot easier fix. Congrats on getting the specs for your game low enough that just about anything can play it. YOU guys rule!
Fix the problem where exos are punching you through their body eg attacking from behind and the exo is facing forward he kills you from punching ( most likely something to do with the hitbox going onto the otherside)
This build I have had at least 6 times where the client just hangs. I haven't had that in any other build. Doesn't come up with the error screen, it just hangs.
In the log I see about 12 of these: Error: Collision model 'models/marine/advanced_armory/advanced_armory.model' created with zero coords
But that was not just prior to the crash as there is still some chat after it.
It might be my drivers though, only have Catalyst 12.6. I'll try installing the latest, although getting the drivers installed last time was a nightmare.

Might be corrupt local game cache. To fix that, try this: 1. Delete the folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\natural selection 2\ns2\shaders 2. Right click on "Natural Selection 2" on Steam, go to Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache (so it downloads the files again).

Seems to have done the trick, thanks.
It would be a nice feature if, before the map starts, people on each team could indicate if they want to be the commander and only start the game if both teams have at least one. Then randomly select one of those to be put in the commander seat when the game starts. Too often the outcome of a game is determined by not having a commander the first few crucial minutes.
Great gameplay so far, but the server listings is well horrible. I have to restart the game constantly just to see a couple, and every time I leave a game to look for a new one they all disappear and I have to restart all over again.

There is problem between FAVORITES & FILTER MODDED filters on the server browser. Unchecking FILTER MODDED will display all server when FAVORITES is checked. You need to uncheck/recheck FAVORITES to only get them back.
im curious, if there will be any B227 Patchnotes ... i realy miss them ... just want to know, what was changed for release ... is there any official information given about?

Might be corrupt local game cache. To fix that, try this:
1. Delete the folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\natural selection 2\ns2\shaders
2. Right click on "Natural Selection 2" on Steam, go to Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache (so it downloads the files again).
