edit:
The loop is not really looping smoothly... :/
[Edit - actually, it looks like we do have the full version of the track, which is a full minute longer then the version that is currently in there. Should be able to get that put into the game for the next patch.]

Edit: Cory beat me to it.
We are still planning on releasing a soundtrack with all the tracks you've already heard in the game and in trailers, as well as some that you haven't heard yet.
--Cory
It's like the difference between John Williams' movie music (Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc) and, well, the rest. The new music would fall under "the rest".

YESH!
+1
extended version of the main menu song ?
after seeing that video, i feel a bit nostalgic of that time when nothing worked :p

Also, what happened to the background animation from pre 199?
But the new one just feels epic, so that's fine, but as said before it lacks punch.
As much as we'd love to use as much of the awesome NS2 music in the game as possible, there will not be any full length tracks in game, as it gets too repetitive and masks the important game sounds. If we have too much music, then most players will end up just turning off the music anyway. We are planning on having a few shorter bits, for round start, round end, maybe when the power first goes out, when the last hive is close to death, and possibly a few other important situations.

Yes, the old track did fit the main menu screen nicely, but we felt that it was better to have main menu music that was more exciting and stirring, with a noticeable theme, to get players pumped up for playing the game.

omg, this! +1!
Unless your planning a huge new update.
The old menu music was superior, dreamy and nightmarish at the same time. Pure genius.
Maybe make them rotate on startup next build?
And I get that you want to get pumped...but allot of people that play the game dont storm into combat the minute they are in the server. (some do offcourse...)
you mean this one? An oldy but my favourite by far :).

Anyway, I loved that theme. Got me cranked every time. Especially when it breaks into the melody at 1.07.

Obviously not suitable for NS2, but was good 'generic music'.
