i bet theres a lot of optimization to be done.

i can run bc2 on max with 40fps consistant on my hd5770 (great card btw), ns2 should have better frames. the engine is nice but not quite optimized yet.

From what I've seen, there's a lot of FPS inconsistency. Just glancing over the "report problems here" link they posted, it seems like some people have vastly superior hardware and terrible FPS, while others have mediocre hardware and decent FPS.

There are probably a lot of driver/vendor-specific inconsistencies happening right now. I'm sure they'll be resolved in time; that's really the point of the engine test.

All that said, the human eye doesn't notice much of an improvement past 60 FPS. After 120 it's literally physically impossible to detect a difference. If you're getting ~60, the game plays fine. Any choppiness you notice past that point is just hypochondria.

On average I would say it was around 65-85, however in some areas where the view included more detailed/larger rooms in the maps, it would drop to as low as the 40s.

Running it at full detail @ 2048x1152, Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

I have to agree with the general sentiment here. This is PRE-alpha. Optimizations probably aren't really even in the works at this point and so it's probably safe to assume far greater performance across the board in the retail version.

Didn't test FPS because I didn't know the cmd but:
    amd4000+, 7800gtx, 3gbram, 1920x1200 - struggles even on lowest settings (would say 5-10fps).
    core2duo something, 8600gt, 4gbram 1680x1050 -struggles on high settings (about 10-20fps)

Didn't expect either of these to handle to very well anyway. Planning on upgrading regardless of how many FPS I got because I want to play on maxed out settings when the final version is released.

As for the lol system requirements posted by UWE - devs always post these ridiculously low settings as "requirements" - meaning whatever is required to install the game and load a map :P If you actually want to PLAY the game best to look at "recommended" specs.

    4gb DDR3 RAM

Running on full detail at 1366 x 768 average FPS was ~40-50, with the lowest drop I saw to 25.

    9800GT, 3Gb RAM, 2.8Ghz Core2, Win XP.

50 FPS for most areas, some will give 40, on very rare occasion 30, regardless of settings.

If there's lots of optimisation work still ahead - which, if I remember the design document, there should be next to none at this point - or if there's just some bugs, it could be no biggie. Otherwise I am disappoint.

It hasn't been optimized yet, this is the point of the engine test, so why bother ?

We all have 40/50~ fps with a classic config, with some fps drops sometimes. There's no way the game will be this way fps wise the day it goes out.

I think in order to compare results we should post screenshots with framerate at a well-known location, for example at the very first spawn in map "range1", and give detailed information about your system, resolution and quality settings used.
    Here's mine:

    Amd Athlon64 X2 4200+
    2 Gb DDR2 Dual Channel
    Radeon 4670 512 Mb
    Win 7 x64

    1680x1050 High quality settings

    31,7 fps at Range1 spawn

    PenD 2.80 GHz
    3gb ddr2
    GeForce 6800 256mb

As of right now I get lots of errors, out of video memory, lock ups, crashes, textures not showing, can't see text ingame list goes on and on. COD4 has 10x better graphics if I can get over 60fps on there on highest setting i'm really hoping to get that on this game. As of right now engine test is unplayable.

It's not that demanding, sounds like there's some sort of incompatibility bug going on.

Anybody that played the Beta for battlefield bad company may remember how crap the FPS were for the beta, I averaged about 20-25fps on the public released beta (more advanced production than NS currently is) and as soon as they released the optimization patch, I was getting 70+ average.

Bearing in mind NS is nowhere near as hardware intensive as other modern games - the FPS will keep climbing with upcoming releases!

I would prob expect the final FPS to be something inbetween Half-Life 2 and left 4 dead as a direct comparison.

My system meets and surpasses the requirements, but on Range #1, at some spots, it lags and in most of the map is rough and stuttery and laggy. System specs:

    Single Core CPU

    AMD Anthlon 64 Proccessor

    Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT

    Integrated RAMDAC

    Windows home ed. build 2600

    So, any ideas?

UPDATE: I now will recieve the following message when I try running Range #2.

<insert texture name here> failed to create - Out of video memory.

My card has 256 MB of space. Any ideas?
