This is probably my most anticipated Source title atm. Been wishing for a decent co-op zombie game for ever. With 28 Days Later style zombies to boot!

Use firefox with javascrip and flash blocker. Mucho faster and more reliable, and no annoying flash ads with sounds.
has anyone tried <a href="http://www.zombiemaster.org/" target="_blank">http://www.zombiemaster.org/</a> ?

If you have not installed the source SDK: The mod seems to require it, so prep for an additional DL through steam.

News flash: all Source mods require the Source SDK Base now.

Thats odd, I played empires just yesterday and steam news hasnt mentioned anything <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
Gameplay looks very stiff... and this method of reviewing games by chatting is pretty dull.

Personally I like it. You get a feel for the kind of person they are, giving you a chance to work out whether their opinions will translate across to your own.

fake edit: (i know the zombies are supposed to be fast)

I think your mean the movement looks stiff? The gameplay seems quite intuitive. Random generative AI population sounds quite interesting.
I do find the reloading animation of the uzi-type smg quite annoying though, I mean who in their right mind would reload a weapon with zombies crawling all over the place and put it in front of their face so they couldn't see ishe :/
[edit]
An I'm so going to play on the infested side, AI can't do what a real human can do. I mean AI still just runs around faster, but still just running around (based of this preview vid ofcourse). Zombies setting up traps, not that would be fun <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
Also, as far as the AI goes, don't underestimate it. I had a pretty good 'demo' of the AI Turtle Rock came up with when I played Condition Zero and its surprisingly convincing that the AI controlled player is actually human. They did an astounding job. I think you'll find that until you get the hang of the game and seriously understand how it works, the AI will beat you out 90% of the time while playing. ;P It really is <b>good.</b> When they say "I thought it was a real person!" they aren't joking.
I haven't played in a few months. The last time I played, the AI was awesome. I wish I could talk about it more, but I'd probably accidentally say something I shouldn't.
Just know that this game is crazy awesome. I've playtested it upwards of 60 hours over the past year or so. It made me sad when my schedule ramped up and I had to stop playtesting. I'd still be in every single playtest they had if I weren't busy as hell.
The reload animations really help you gauge how long it'll be until your reload is finished. You'd be surprised at how often you're running for your life while reloading, and knowing how long it's going to take is vital.

You people at Valve hate me, release something I won't buy please. Oh my poor wallet.

It's much easier to reload a gun when you're actually looking at it, rather than trying to feel your way around it.
I don't think the characters you play as are in any way trained in the use of the weapons they use, so they won't be able to reload blind.
It's absolutely awesome to see a good looking coop game... While I love that it looks like alot of fun in combat, I hope to god it isn't too dumb a game. It gets a little old just shooting zombies, and shooting zombies, and shooting zombies... Some injection of smarts and skill elements into the game IMO is vital to keep things fresh.
Yes yes! bring it on.

holy crap this game seems amazing, valve always does a good job
The director is the most appealing aspect of l4d for me. I just happen to be a fan of procedurally generated stuff. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
I don't like fast zombies. they are starting to get overused by games/movies and are redefining the zombie archetype. They are much more ominous when they're slower and come in mobs.
Agreed. Its the only part of this game that makes me go "Awwww..."
Slow zombies are only good when they're in large numbers or confined spaces. There's nothing like tearing through a crowd of zombies with a shotgun, and running through the gap you've made before they can reach you.
