To me, both fast and slow zombies have their appeal. Fast zombies are to keep the action moving, to keep you on your toes. You're not going to panic as much if you have 15 seconds before the zombie reaches you.

Slow zombies are only good when they're in large numbers or confined spaces. There's nothing like tearing through a crowd of zombies with a shotgun, and running through the gap you've made before they can reach you.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

That's why I always figured the Zack Snyder (...although I'm pretty sure he's not the first) DotD zombies can live next to the Romero DotD zombies, because I figure as the bodies deteriorate from wear and tear/decomposition the muscles wont fuction as well and the zombies wont be able to exert such immense strains on their bodies anymore. I doubt that's planned or even acknowledged in that supposedly coming 'Day of the Dead' remake, but whatever...

...plus the fast moving zombies makes sense in this game context, because it's supposedly a hyper virulent strain of 'uber violent' rabies; and last I checked rabies didn't slow you down <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> .

I think your mean the movement looks stiff?
    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Exactly, I was hoping more slow/realistic DoDS movement.

I personally like the running zombies, really makes you haul ######. But I don't like that kicking bullsh*t they do when you're on the ground.

I just have to see the preview again, and you're right... That zombie was kicking the guy/girl on the ground. What the hell was that about. Nevertheless, I'm so buying this.

They're not zombies, remember. It's just a crazy rabies virus. Kicking is exactly what you do to someone when they're down. Maximum damage for minimum risk.

Maximum damage for minimum risk, like charging at 4 people armed with guns?

I mean as an instinctual response. If you're not in control of yourself but you wanna hurt someone really bad, you just start wailing on them. The infected don't have any wits; they just want to hurt you. The run towards you and attack and if you happen to get knocked down, they'll kick you. Can you think of anything else that they'd do? Perhaps fall down and wrestle with you?

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I think there's a lack of coop games these days.

If I was thinking instinctual "All I want to do is KILL YOU" thoughts Tycho, I think I'd dive on top of someone and start beating the living hell out of them. Theres no sissy kick anywhere in the mix.

I can't express how immeasurably retarded it is to be speculating a game might play poorly because the enemies run at you as opposed to walking, and therefore don't fit the zombie stereotype. The zombies shouldn't "walk" or "run" because that's what zombies in other fictions do. I don't care why they are zombies, if you even call them zombies, why they behave the way they do. All that is relevant in any way is that it makes the gameplay more/less fun.

What kind of utter idiocy is it that there are rules for how zombies are supposed to act in fiction work? Seriously, THE WHOLE POINT IS IT'S FICTION. FICTION = NO RULES! GO DIE PLEASE!

Hold on Turbo, I just think being ripped apart and eaten is cooler than being beaten up by a bunch of dirty and peeved individuals.

Looks like it will be a interesting game to play. Perhaps I'll have time to play it when it comes out.

It wouldn't make a difference any more after seeing it happen 300 times. Sure, more immersive novelty for the first several times, but after that it's just an animation a bunch of 3D models are playing that you have no control over anyways.

Zombies crouched down and biting you were probably too hard to shoot or something. Making them stand up and kick you gives you a massive field of body to aim at.

All they do is B-line for you, it'd be nice if I had to change the angle I'm aiming from time to time.

    You want them to bunnyhop?

Well there are 3 other people. So sometimes the zombies will be running for them and you'll have to constantly change your angle.

This reminds me of way back when I'd play RogueSpear on Terrorist Hunt mode.

It was a really fun co-op mode where you'd traverse a building, taking out terrorists of varying levels of difficulty.

This one mapper made these maps that were INSANELY hard. You'd really need a good "team" to get through them. You'd have to get your regulars together from The Zone and really bond together to attack it.

L4D kind of reminds me of that. Can't wait.

No, but I'd like to find some zombies eating a corpse only for them to turn and come to me. Not kicking someone to death because he owes them money. It's aslo a hell of a lot creepier.

Angry people don't substitute as zombies, half the reason 28 Days Later sucked but that's another topic.

Eventually you will run into player controlled creepies as well... and they probably will develop some of their own strats.

404NotFound: Pretty much any really well done coop game is just insane fun. There's something about a game mode that isn't possible alone being taken on together by several people working as a coherent machine that is just transcendent with compared to anything else you can experience gaming. It's one of the reasons I'm still willing to go for a round out sven coop any time any place with any of you guys. Playing with people you know is made of sex and win.

I thought 28 days later was amazing, much more realistic take on the "zombie" theme. And by the looks of that footage, it just screams 28 days later, a good thing imo.

No doubt we will see L4D mods for a "classic" take on the zombie theme, with slow moving targets to shoot at.

Very impressive! I was lucky enough to play this last year at the Steam/Source developer's conference and it was incredible. The motion in particular really brings the zombies to life and makes you feel like you're in a movie.

I think this game is really going to go places.

I thought in one of the reviews, or maybe even in that video, someone noted that the zombies don't always run <i>right </i> for you, some times they sort of strafe from side to side in an effort to sort of avoid your fire. I thought it sounded kind of lame at the time, but I also didn't really notice it in those videos, so maybe I just made it up...I don't know.

Also, just don't get nearly killed or play with people that get nearly killed and you wont have to worry about zombies kicking anyone <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> .

Zombie's don't make a beeline for you in the game. If you watch some of the segments closely they all aren't coming straight at the player. They don't make erratic, strange movements to make it extremely noticeable - it blends very well into the gameplay.

Hmm... I hope I get to use a 2x4 to bash some heads in.

Also, stomping is particularly deadly and vicious in real life, I don't see why it wouldn't be something someone enraged would do.
