Try cooking for her, it's cheap and can be romantic. If your a cooking novice i've found <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jambalaya" target="_blank">Jambalaya</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fajitas" target="_blank">Fajita's</a> to be piss easy.

Don't do this if you live at home with your parents.

Why not? I've done that plenty of times, it's great. Sweet, homely, cosy and the girl is always like "awww you are so sweet thankyou"...

I can't say I'd ever recommend bringing a girl home to your parents on the first date. It just screams:

    1) "I live with my parents!"
    2) "This is the best I could come up with for the first date! You get to meet, then awkwardly avoid, my parents!"
    3) "I have no other plans for us, so unless you can come up with something, any further dates will involve a combination of you, me, my house, and my parents."

    Okay so the positives are,

    1) I'm not ashamed to have you round
    2) I want to do something for you, I want to make it myself, show you I'm not half-arsed ie. Dinner.
    3) It's f*******g freezing outside, wouldn't you rather be inside?
    4) It's good practice for being comfortable around each other
    5) It's not far from a warm bed for some of those famous 1up's if anything goes that well
    6) I can walk you home then walk back from her house alone, get appraisal for being sweet walking her home and sympathy for walking home alone
    7) We don't have to watch a movie in almost complete silence, we can can talk about it as it happens, have a better hug and kiss etc.
    8) We don't waste any money, it's the inexpensive option.

Best date idea that ever worked for me was dinner+bookstore. I thought it was really stupid, till the Dinner part got her in a good mood(as long as you don't piss her off), then the Bookstore was a good way for let us both geek out(despite the fact that she wasn't a geek at all), and end up talking really in depth about each other. Good learning spot, at least. Only works on the intelligent women though.

I'd say take her out to eat, like basically everyone else has said. My only advice is just don't get anxious and try and relax.

This one only really applies if you have something to talk about but

    - Going for a walk and then getting hot chocolate to get out of the cold is a good one.

    also remember

-Don't take advice from me, The last girl I tried to date didn't "feel that way" about me (awww). Luckily I found this out by the third date and just said screw it. I'm still single <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

well if you arent too pansy to brave the weather, you could go out taking pictures. or go downtown and roam around all the stores you have never been in. one of the first dates i took my current girlfriend on was i went to mall where she worked right as she was getting off, then we walked around downtown. ended up spending an hour and a half in a furniture store sitting on everything.

the girl I've been with for eight years and am marrying this year - we met on the internet and went to Six Flags on our first date... but most subsequent dates were at her mom's house or my mom's house <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" /> of course when you live 2 hours away, have liberal parents, and aren't driving yet, spending the weekend at each others' houses is the only reasonable option.

So.... Dating revolves around movies and food now? What a sad shell of it's former glory has it become. Snow right? It is snowing eh? Build snowmen in the middle of the road and watch as traffic crashes to a hault. (saw that one on the news) Bowling, skating, Oooooo street hockey. Honestly though, stick to what you know. Break out your twenty-sided dice or something.

Oh and no offense, but DO NOT become infatuated with anyone. Ever. You like her, she likes you that's nice, but keep it at that. At least on your side, or next thing you know you'll be pushing over the snowman you built and standing in the middle of the road where he was. Cause we men are like that, women can deal by simply eating frozen dairy products.

Way to read the thread buddy. They don't like snow.

Besides, it's not just dating that revolves around movies and food now. It's America. And I would keep the 20 sided dice in the dice pouch for now. Definitel not on a first date at least.

Not really. Women are people too -- bitter, selfish, greedy people. Lonely guys just tend to throw themselves into the deep end and then blame all women for their own mistakes.

Going out for dinner is probably a good safe option, especially if as you say your a bit shy and this is your first date. Just find somewhere middle of the road, checking out some sites on the web for a decent one is a good idea if your not to familiar with the restaurants in your area.

And Emperors right - i've known a couple of guys who loved to blame anything and everything on the women who had been in their lives when as a friend I had to point out the fault was a little closer to home. There people just like men and ish happens.

You need to have a <i>Natural 20</i> check for initiative to get on the best side of your lady...

Anyway, seeing as I'm now in a better frame of mind from my first post (which got deleted...), aloow me to list what I did on my first "date".

1: Went to Pizza Hut, for the opener, table for 2, looking at each other <3
2: We walked across the beach, just chatting.
3: Went to the arcades, and hit the 2p pushers hard...
4: Went to the pub, for the single, relaxing drink before...
5: Went to the cinema, and saw a film (the name of which escapes me, because it was a while ago now...)

Just do things that are sociable. The main thing you need to do is to do things that feel comfotable. I love the 2p pushers at the arcade, so I didn't feel out of place on them, which made me more relaxed, which comes across to everyone around you. If you're going to the cinema, don't take her to watch a horror film, or something similarly action-packed, unless that's the kind of film she wants to watch. Look at the film board, and pick what film you want to watch, then ask her what she wants to watch. Forget what you wanted and have her choice, or some kind of compromise...

    Yeah,sad indeed....

right about now i should rant about how men are lazy pigs, that have no thought about anyone but themselves, and expect women to give the entire world to them in the blink of an eye,and them to expect nothing in return...

    but im not.

you see,i believe that when people ask another out, they know enough about a woman/man to be able to predict what at least they have in common/like enough to keep themselves occupied, at least on a first date.
is there a reason to as why you asked her out?
except for the fact"oh she got nice ######,i have to go out with her, untill she lets me touch em" or whatever pervy thought of that category that goes through your mind.

So i ask you this :
why did you ask her out?
what did you see in her?
You cant hide who you are,why bother on dates?
    <i>act this,act that,dont do this dont do that</i>.whats the ###### point?
she will see through you anyway, if you go on a couple of dates.
And if you go through a couple of dates like that, then it starts getting serious, and you start acting diffrently. doesnt that damage more than it does good ?

A couple of dates i've had in the last year :
    The Arcades (Then movies)
i love pennypushers, theyre fun,and winning plushies is always fun.
Going Bowling, its fun, easy to learn how to reasonably do it ,and not too expensive.
    Karting (fun,semi expensive and fast!)

Some advices in this thread are really thought through. /sarcasm
<i>"omg parents house i lolled"</i>wth kind of answer is that?!
If he lives at home with his parents (who cares?) and she really enjoys him and wants to spend time with him,you think she cares?i do not.
Being ashamed of what you are,or who you are, yeah that will make her feel really comfortable.
Insecurity/shame about that doesnt push anyones buttons, especially not the opposite sex.

i used to live near a place called laser quest... they give you harnesses with hitboxes and laser rifles... then they send you into an arena and after about a minute you can start shooting... it's a ffa usually, but teaming up with the date could be fun... just remember, ff is on...

at the end theres a screen with scores and ranking... your date will think youre amazing when you come out #1 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" />
