Things to do in Denver (with a girl)

CabooseCaboose title = name(self, handle) Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13597Members, Constellation
<div class="IPBDescription">(... When you're NOT dead...)</div>So, last night/ early this morning, I asked a girl that I have liked out, in a rather looserish manner, where I said "um" about 70 times and probably sounded like a mentally disabled 12 year old.

Anyway, that's irrelevant because she said yes! Only thing is... I don't know what to do, I'm a college student, as is she, meaning neither of us have much money. We met through work (at a movie theater...) and I'd rather not go the movie route... we both see plenty of movies as it is, and there's nothing to see that either or both of us haven't already seen.

Anyway, I turn to you, oh sarcastic denizens of the Interweb, for advise. What should I do for a "date"? All suggestions are open, although I'll probably ignore most of the sarcastic remarks made (I'm looking at you BM).

Post things you have done for "dates" or just really cool ideas. Please try to be serious... At lease try...

Well I don't know about Denver, but in Seattle we like to go out to eat. Just find a nice middle of the road restaurant go have some dinner. If neither of you are from Denver go see the tourist things. Zoo's and Science centers are cute. Also if your downtown is safe thats always a nice place to go and browse. Other than that I'm out of ideas. Good luck.

Are you dense? You can't just take Seattle customs and translate them to Denver! That will cause untold destruction! You must be careful...

    Go ice skating.

Google "Denver +entertainment" and look around for stuff. Alternatively, if it's warm over there, go drinking in a park. Or if she likes the same movies/tv shows you do, just bring her back to yours and watch them. Or find a cheap place to eat/get coffee and talk for a while. Honestly, it's not too hard. You don't need to tell the whole internet every time you find a girl that doesn't have the guts to say "no" to a date.

    Edit: (Jesus Christ, this thread...)

I liked the bit about sarcastic denizens of the intarweb.

Kudos on the she said yes!
I would go with walking talking. She will just want to spend time in your company getting to know you. I don't know how you are with girls but I wouldn't shy away from being an uber geek if you are one (these forums being a good qualifier) because it's better to be honest and really be who you are (what a cliche eurgh).

I would also go for home theatre. Because it's much more cosy at home and you can be really nice and be a good host.

When you see her never be afraid to say she looks beautiful. And take something on that first 'date', even if it's a stone tablet with a bad poem hand carved on it. Just as long as you can say I got you this and it isn't poo.

Any botanical gardens museums or other places usually used to distract old people for the day? They are usually good for time with someone and something for your eyes to look at too. Cycle ride? Too cold I guess.

If I got to go out with someone right now I would take them for a proper dinner. Admittedly forced into getting a taxi there and back which sucks but I would pay for both and the dinner and just get some really good time with them, chatting, getting to spoil them and know them better.

    Good luck!

    Ice skating, a good idea.
OR you could just ASK her, what she'd like ?
she did agree to a date, it doesnt hurt to let her have a say ?

do you guys interact really well? can you walk around and talk for hours? if so, just do that. go to the park or something. most girls enjoy conversation that way.

if not... get high, go get munchies, go back to the dorm and f*.

Show her some neat proofs (or at least parts of proofs), like how any prime number congruent to 1 modulo 4 can be written as a sum of integer squares.

    THE MORE MITTENS THE MERRIER!
  • CabooseCaboose title = name(self, handle) Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13597Members, Constellation
She's already got a bad ###### pair of mittens. The mitten part folds back, and then they become fingerless gloves, they're like transformer mittens...

But yea, we get along pretty well, I've known her for a few months, and in groups of work friends, tend to visit Denny's all the time and stay there until 4am or so, talkig about stuff and having a good 'ol time. Then there's the watching movies thing, working at a movie theater, we all tend to do a lot of that.

To whoever said they didn't know how I was with girls... Not very good. This would be the first because I'm generally pretty shy about things like this. She's honestly the first girl I've ever asked on a date, I like her a lot... So much so that I ask for relationship advise on an internet forum...

Anyway, it's been really cold in Denver the last few weeks, there's still ice covering a great deal of the back streets and snow piled up in mounds several feet tall covering the sidewalks in many places. Inside things would be nice.

Neither of us have a car, and we both know we make crap for pay...

I'm thinking dinner would be a good idea, but where/how to get there... I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Do you live at home with your parents? If so, don't invite her back round there.

don't get too attached... it'll just suck that much more when she breaks your heart... never be too forgiving, if you start going steady (whatever that means) and she does something nasty, abort!

be who you are, if she gives you time you'll grow comfortable with her... but don't get too comfortable!! they'll nip you in the ######, those women!

maybe after a while you could start to trust her.. maybe >_>...

    but that's just my opinion...

    yesh, i agree

the MOST important thing is just to be yourself
dont pretend to be how you are not. cause IF there will be a relationship, it will be based on a kind of lie, and you dont want that.
it wouldnt work for long, trust me.

if she likes you how you are, you are thinking far too hard <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
    and if not, well...

denver is a bit of a ski bum town isn't it? are either/both of you skiers? that's a great way to kill a day.

what am I talking about, you said you're both poor, and skiing is not cheap.

it's also a trendy college town isn't it? take her to a trendy restaurant and maybe to see a band. can't really do better than that.

ooh, follow dinner up with ice cream. everyone loves ice cream.

Shy and nervous with girls? So you're the kind, caring, thoughtful type. First date? Sit indoors, make her dinner, watch a movie. It goes down a treat.

sledding, ice skating or just go playing in the snow. after that come inside and have hot chocolate. build a fire if you have a fireplace. just sit and talk. if things go really well take a nap together.
