Where are the vanilla NS servers?

What's left? I can't seem to find any servers running vanilla NS anymore. They're all "ub3r1337 kuzt0m hax OMG" and no fun to play on. Now that the NS forums are back, can anyone point me to classic servers?

Guns for back to school and tactical gamer are about it. There are also a few acceptable classic servers with only minimal stuff like umbra on skulk spawns or block scripts. Most servers are siege/combat cybernetics stuff.

Well, the populated ones are G4B2S and TG as mentioned, there is also the <BAD> server, |CoR|. If you have a group of friends, chances are that you can populate some good but currently empty servers, such as NSA and [I-AM]'s Gorge Hideout. There are others as well. The trick really is to get a group of people and seed a game, so that people will join. You need about 6-7 players before lurkers will start to join up, since G4B2S is almost always full and you would be providing an alternative.

Much as everyone seems to want to credit me for this (hell, some even have it in their siggys!) I'm afraid I must pass. You'd be hard pressed to even <b>FIND</b> any game-altering plugins that are "mine" and compatible with current version/s of NS and AMXX.

start playing pugs or join a clan, you wont find a vanilla server elsewhere (a server being vanilla also means there wont be any admins ###### to you about whatever the ###### is on their heart today)

The Old Fogies (aka OldF) have two servers that might interest you.
<ul><li>Life Support - ls.oldf.net - 3.2beta FF on server. No game altering plugins.
</li><li>Prune Juice - pj.oldf.net - 3.1 FF off server. Has a "ff on hive only" for teleporting to a building hive. (Just so that gameplay between the ff on and ff off servers isn't too different. Note this is now a feature in 3.2 so this server will likely be vanilla when it goes to 3.2 as well.) And custom icons in scoreboard.</li></ul>(Bots for seeding the server, map and admin controls are about it otherwise on both servers.)

Hrmm same with my server. Vanilla gameplay, admin controls, and limited bots.

I been kinda curious what the best method would be for bot seeding.

How many players have to join before it switches over to pure PvP?
(Mine it's 8 for 4v4, but I have been wondering if I should lower that.)

And do you have it slowly drop off, allowing people on the alien team w/ bots as teammates.
Or do you wait till the Marines versus Bots round ends? (Our server does this)
Or do you make a vote so they can choose? (Thinking about adding this feature)

wow australia still has it good then, telestra game area internode and a few other names still run at least 4+ vanilla servers i admit there can be some with a high max player cap, but there always a few gold ones that get heavy play with a low high pop, max 16ers can be ok, these places usaly also split up at least 3 classis from two co and have at least 3 mixed rotations, as far as i can tell all GA servers are melborne and run pritty well

I havent really noticed that many euro servers with plugins, I think the most annoying is VH2 with that damned phasegate plugin (*spit*), but usually its minimal to nil game altering plugins that Im aware of (in classic ns atleast)

yeah i noticed your one of the few aussie server running 3.2, i noticed just about every place only beta tested it for about 2 weeks, i think it acctuly forced game arena and a few others like internode to remove a few servers, not good i know i hope they put them back when 3.2 gets out, i cant possable think what else they would do with comupters hosting old hl 1 engines.

ill see if i can drag some GA players to ya 3.2 sever scythe the tin man had a latecny of 72 for me just now i guess your in perth? or queensland? prahaps NZ?

Join a league, all servers that claim to be good are just good compared to the terrible servers that are left. League play and pugs are the closest thing you can get to a decent game.

Eh Tomekki, thats not neccesarily true. I'm the head game admin at NSA games, which also includes NSArmslab.

Our server philosophy is that we will only ban someone as a last resort. Myself and my admin staff, do not enjoy banning players. To safe guard against any BS or nonsense, we don't intentionally create a hypocritical set of rules (i.e. no spawn camping, no swearing, etc...) that is based on a biased subjective enforcement. That alone will handle most of the problems on a typical NS server. Basically, we are not looking for excuses to use our powers and deal with the drama afterwards, we just want to keep the server running smoothly and remove people that will cause other people to leave, within reason of course.

We also only run combat to fill the server, once there is enough people the map will switch to classic after the round is done.

A lot of players only want to play on bs0 or bs1 servers, it's not fair to try and force them to play on the other.
