without any of the bloatware?
I recently went to one of my favorite YTMND sites, and found I couldn't play the sound file associated with it. (It's the one from CWAG's sig and avatar if you're curious...) According to firefox, I need quicktime to play it properly. I've tried installing Quicktime Alternative - both the 1.48 and 1.50 beta1 versions - and nothing works.
I'd hate to install QT, because of all the bloatware (ie: the quicktime player and iTunes; whatever itunes is...) that comes with it. Is there any place I can get just the codec?

[EDIT:] By the way, I think that it's optional to install the player. Asks you when you run the installer.
Alright, I've installed QT on my machine, but I still don't hear anything on YTMND. I've tried multiple reinstalls, and even uninstalled ALL of my media programs (Winamp, VLC and QT) and did a fresh install of each - and still I get nothing! How can I configure QT to work with FireFox?

If you're using Firefox (like you better damn well be, wench.) You have to install a special QT plug in too.
I only use IE for windows update, and I'd drop it off my HD compeletely if there was another way to use windows update. ^_^
Where can I get this almighty plugin, O wise one?

I've tried that - both the 1.48 and 1.5 beta, and they didn't work. I'll give them another shot though.

I have the same problem.
FireFox tells me that I'm missing a plug-in. I ask what the plug-in is. It tells me it's the QT plug-in. I tell it to grab the plug-in. It tells me I need to do a manual install, and leads to the QT website. I uninstall my QT, and I download and install the latest version (with iTunes crap). I go back to YTMND.

Go into quicktime (making sure firefox is closed) and then click preferences -> browser plugins -> mime.
Now make sure 'mp3' is ticked and the ytmnd sites should work :3
Yup - that's my problem. Stupid QT... >_<
oh and if QT6.5.2 is giving you probs on the ytmnd sites then the full guide on what I described that fixes it is http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206210 .

This worked for me. I had done it in the past, but because of upgrading Firefox, not selecting the proper options for Quicktime's file associations, as well as not closing Firefox while I was setting up Quicktime, my success hadn't been great. It's working fine for me now.

If it weren't for the ad banner that is included in the Opera browser, I would have a very tough time deciding whether to use Firefox or Opera.

7.54 and 8.0 beta are free without banners.
