What song downloader did you use, and are you sure they are mp3 and not some other variety, say wma, aac, etc.

it's wma, but when i rip my cds with wmp this doesn't happen... i blame the protection so far <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well actually it depends, if you are ripping your cds to mp3, there might be a slight delay probably not noticable, since winamp likes to buffer songs before it plays them. At least the 5.0 does.

Now as for other playback types, I have noticed with .midi, .aac, .wma, and etc (if they aren't mp3) there is a slight delay, usually around 2 seconds.

I blame it more on the format and the programming of winamp, which is why I converted all of my .wav, .midi, and .wma over to .mp3.

I want to use .aac, but itunes is a resource hog for the depths sources unknown.

Just to note, you could buy all the music you want for damned cheap, plus I think you can select how you want it encoded.

They don't have everything but they do have a lot.

    NB: allofmp3 isn't strictly legal.

okay, the music i buy is in .wma format, protected ofcourse...

the music i rip from my cds is .wma, but i choose not to CR protect it, because, well... why? who's going to steal it from me?

and this doesn't happen to the .wmas i ripped, but it happens with those i bought... so can anyone enlighten me on how this protection work?

    edit\\

and yea i am aware of allofmp3 but like maus said, it doesn't quit play by the rules, and that kind of defeats my purpose of buying my music, i like to feel that i own the music and didn't steal it.

wma's tend to have a slight delay for me too.. just as mp3 plays about in a blink, wma takes the good second to start up. Winamp tells "opening X%" whenever wma's opened. You're not alone brotha!

in your encoding options, there's this blank time option, by default 2 seconds usually. I suppose that downloaded music also has 2 seconds.

Does the blank only happen in Winamp?
