You are expendable.
I am sick of all these people who take extra precautions to not die. Oftentimes I'll have a bunch of marines in say...Central Access on Tanith trying to get into Cargo, which has 5 camping skulks, and nobody wants to be baited. I scream on my mic to get their **** moving but they just camp outside getting spored and wasting my time and res on medpacks.
Here's a thought for you: You are expendable. You come free from the IP, your death (in a large pub) means nothing. Do your duty to the death. It's for the greater good.
Now, you have to do it within limits. Charging a two hive fade with an HMG is stupid, regardless, but if we're trying to get into a crucial room, and nobody wants to be the sacrificial lamb, that's a problem. A very big problem. If Leetzor Clanner is over there and you're with him, and one of you has to die, let it be you. It's for the greater good.
NS is a team game. Teamwork involves sacrifices. We've got a bunch of people who arne't making those sacrifices.
Too many times have I seen marines just not do their duty because a lerk is sporing a hallway they have to get through. Is that phase almost done? Are 5 skulks coming after you? FINISH THE DAMN PHASE AND DIE SO I CAN RUSH THAT HIVE DOWN. You might get 3 of those skulks if you are über leet, but that leaves the other 2 to kill you, for no strategic advantage. Finish the phase and die so I can beacon rush the damn thing and win the game.
Remember, as a bog standard marine, you are expendable. You come free from the IP in ten seconds. Think like a religious fanatic, do your duty, die, and go to heaven. Except skip the heaven part, just do your duty and die, rinse and repeat.

.. Today?
On NSA?
Such as telling them, with no sugar coating, that there are 4 skulks coming and "You will die". Sometimes they don't, most of the time they do; either way, you're both aware of the potential outcome before it happens, allowing you both to deal with it with minimal kicking and screaming.
On a similar note, most marines have a strange tendency to place the value of their life over the completion of a phase or any other structure in an area of contention. In some situations this is understandable, one skulk can be dealt with; it's not that big of an inturruption in the construction schedule. However I am mystified by the the actions of the lone marine who has the outlandish belief that he, on his lonesome, can take down the onos and have a short lunch break before getting back to building. I'm afraid, that for the most part, it isn't quite possible. So, what I suggest, is that you remind any marine in a similar situation, that yes "You will die" and that he must accept the fact that, as was once said by a very wise man, "**** does happen" so he should just build the goddamn phase before you are forced get out of the chair and build it yourself.
lol @ the leetzor clanner line...

I don't think you don't understand.
Let's say a ninja is trying to get a phase up in a hive. Nobody sees him, phase is almost complete; a second more of building will get it up. However, 5 skulks notice the ninja, and try to rush him.
What not to do: shoot the skulks. Why? Because you will not kill all of them. Period. You might get 1, or 2, maybe even 4. Who knows. But you'll die, and the phase won't be done, and a great opportunity is wasted.
What to do: finish the phase. Yes, you will die seconds after as the 5 skulks rush you, but you will have backup coming through the phase within seconds. Now, there is a chance of you getting control and stopping that 5-skulk rush.
There.
Of course if you play like 12v12 then rush away, but that's not really NS, now is it?
Granted half the time I don't INTEND to be bait..but I seem to draw all skulks/fades/oni/whatever to me. I can be anywhere in a group of 5 marines and I will be the first to die, guarenteed, back or front or middle of group, doesn't matter.
And most of the time..I will be the only one..I'm like a marine group blessing sacrifice.

Think thats going to my sig!
Backup that will immediately be destroyed by 5 skulks waiting around the PG. Unless of course you've already got a good bit of turretage already, but that's a different story.
Nothing like sneaking into a hive with a buddy or two and setting up a bunch of mines before you die. Nothing like 12 mines in the hive room to annoy the HELL out of aliens =p and worth your death too! hehe
We've killed an onos before because we ran in and saw the skulk become an egg, thought hey itll be fun to mine around the egg. Setup the mines all around the egg after shooting it a bit. onos popped out and set off all the mines at once =p
I dont understand
U can lmg 4 skulks and then pistol whip the 5th
And if u are really **** at aiming .Then u can lmg 3 pistol 4 n a bit and then just nife the stupid skulk As it jumps over your head ?
Then build the pg while 5 aliens are waiting in the spawn que ?
Does the trick...
