Well if money isn't an object I always prefer the sony monitors, or the mitsubishi ones. I have had excellent luck with either of those two. However, based on what you have presented us.

I would choose the 17" Samsung. I know I like their other products for being reasonably priced and always lasting a while if well taken care of. :-)

I personally thing a 19" tft's way to big, and it doesnt really need it since a 17" tft looks like a 19" crt. The 19" tft would look like a 21" crt.

As for the choice, I myself have a Samsung syncmaster 171p with 25ms reaction time and have no trouble gaming so with these 14ms-12ms you shouldnt have any problem either <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Being Dutch and all I would like to say go for the Philips tft (Dutch company <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->), but since samsung is well known for their top quality lcd screens I would go for the samsung and besides they looks so darn cool <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Kouji San, my dear naruto fan, the screen is NEVER too big <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I don't know much about those new generation tft's, but all of them should be ok, you should search for some reviews and customer ratings.

I'm still looking for 1600x1200 LCDs... I'll buy two when they a) can be found and b) don't cost an arm, 3 legs, 17 eyes and a few lungs. Oh, and Samsungs are quite nice. As are LGs, if they make them. LG is generally regarded as the best value (at least in my experience) in the LCD TV department, so I imagine they make good LCD monitors too.

Yeh but doesnt it defeat the purpose of space saving o.O well thats the reason I bought mine anyways.

Ive seen them 19" tft's they look to big for my working space. I mean i have to put my keyboard there and joystick and my screen somewhere and probably the most important thing of them all (read:no desk should be without it) A Jar 'O Cookies with enough space for me to het to it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I know jack <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif' /><!--endemo--> about monitors but are TFT still horrible for intense gaming? I need a good one too but no idea what to look for and will probably use a CRT if TFT's still suck. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Also a 14ms response time should mean you wont see any blurring. I was ok with my old 15" TFT that had 25ms delay

Well I play a lot of fps games and other fast paced games and the screen doesnt lag at all and i have a 25ms syncmaster. So if you get one of todays standarts @ 8-15ms you wont have any problems at all.

If you are refering to ghosting/fading effect when something moves that is gone for almost 3 years now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
