I would choose the 17" Samsung. I know I like their other products for being reasonably priced and always lasting a while if well taken care of. :-)
As for the choice, I myself have a Samsung syncmaster 171p with 25ms reaction time and have no trouble gaming so with these 14ms-12ms you shouldnt have any problem either <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Being Dutch and all I would like to say go for the Philips tft (Dutch company <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->), but since samsung is well known for their top quality lcd screens I would go for the samsung and besides they looks so darn cool <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I don't know much about those new generation tft's, but all of them should be ok, you should search for some reviews and customer ratings.

Yeh but doesnt it defeat the purpose of space saving o.O well thats the reason I bought mine anyways.
Ive seen them 19" tft's they look to big for my working space. I mean i have to put my keyboard there and joystick and my screen somewhere and probably the most important thing of them all (read:no desk should be without it) A Jar 'O Cookies with enough space for me to het to it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Also a 14ms response time should mean you wont see any blurring. I was ok with my old 15" TFT that had 25ms delay
If you are refering to ghosting/fading effect when something moves that is gone for almost 3 years now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
