That's not the game you <span style='color:white'>Be nice.</span>, that's the netcode when you play a Brazillian clan.

yeah, those are some messed up numbers. but thats not the point. the fixed hitbox code was commented out for some reason. for people who dont do any programing, it means that big chunk of code is just ignored. the new code WILL be used in B6, so just deal with it for now

...A demo of a game that was lagged.

Drummer, the devs still haven't confirmed that. The bugtracker implies that only the Fade's fixed hitboxes were commented out.

Yeah, they fixed the hitboxes in 2.0 too...

oh wait, they put it off yet again.

    Hi Azkar,

as you might or might not know, none of the devs is being paid for investing our time into this game. Not to sound preposterous, but to me, that hints at us deserving a somewhat more polite treatment when you demand changes which we will have to implement on our free time.
The problem at hand seem pretty much lag-induced (demos preserve lag to remain accurate as far as I'm aware).

As for the hitbox code, it has (coders, correct me if I'm wrong) effects on other alien classes, as well, but I doubt it's connected to this. This is simply good ol' HL netcode giving a HPB a chance to kill stuff.

i know the hitbox fix mainly affected the fade, but i think it fixed the PSHB too, where it doesnt matter what alien the person is

The PSHB fix is something seperate and was done by Valve.

Thats why the devs spent so much of their time on combat.

This whole hitbox problem could be fixed.

EDIT: The CAL admins say lag doesnt matter in this game.

I am sure you know exactely how we could've spent our time so as to ensure that your game experience would have been improved, but face it, you are not the only player. Combat is being played by 50% of our community; we're of course taking our time to improve it. To re-iterate what you apparently skipped over the first time: Your problem has nothing to do with the hitbox fix.

I have every respect for the CAL admins, so I'll assume this is a misunderstanding. You won't find an online game where ping does not matter.

The idea that the commented out hitbox code would also fix all the other hitbox related bugs was an assumption made by the posters, it was never stated by a dev. PSHB has nothing to do with NS' code.

Oh, so instead of making one mode of gameplay entirely bug free, they would rather attract more people to the game.

We had a few pages on the cal forums about this issue, and they all insist that having a higher ping doesnt give you an advantage, only a hitbox 3 feet behind your model

Oh god, you've got us. I, Florian 'Nemesis Zero' Schwarzer, producer of Natural Selection, admit it, here, publically: We're trying to keep NS popular. Your point being?

[edit]I'll leave this thread now. Communication between dev and user only works if both sides are willing to at least hypothetically accept the other's position as valid, a requisite I see quickly waning in here. Bye.[/edit]

    1. nothing is bugless or unexploitable, sure the exploits and bugs might not do anything useful, but theyre still there
    2. No player base = no motivation for the dev team to make such a great game

Don't make me go play CS with laggy players, and take a screenshot of the same problem.

You do know that around 200-400 people that "play" ns are bots, right?

the steam counter is off because of this.

so its really not that different.

CS doesnt have hitbox problems when a player crouches though.
