btw, do you guys have the problem where for some reason agents seem to like to shoot your lockers, make them explode, hurt themselves in the process gaining heat, and run back to tell mommy?
my lockers are in the back of my base set up in long stips in a huge room, I went afk once and some one made it back there and half the thing burnned down >.<
Sabatuers will blow anything up. Everbody else will ignore an object unless it has a heat rating.
I've had quite a bit of success leaving my barracks near the entrance of my base this way. It also helps if you have lots of fire extinguishers, and have a fire-wall splitting up the room instead of a big barracks that all goes up in one explosion.
I've had no luck at all with external turrets, however. Everyone tries to destroy them on sight, and I can't have them firing all the time. That would be a huge heat factory.
edit: here's an important tip - just because there's a mile of corridor to get to a room, doesn't mean that the enemy can't get in. There are "secret passages," which basically means the enemy will tunnel into your base. I've found that a good way to prevent that is a motion detector/fake enemy combo in important rooms (buys time), + making sure my cameras cover everything expensive.
And you don't need to make your base uber straight away, or build a million generators. Keep in mind that later you'll get better versions of most objects.
Well my new main base defence is now a long hall of satans pit's kills a few of my guys but gets almost all bad err good guys.
Iv come across 2 fps aswell. Its really anoying cus I have 100/100 people and I get low frames in all of the island and in all windows =/ Will it be fixed when I go to the new island?
Yeah infiltrators tend to come up through the floor but they only seem to attack lockers in the back room for me. I added a security camera and even after building a lot of heat up I didn't get infiltrated. In fact most the agents never get passed the front door. If they do get in ive got traps at every choke point

Afterwards I'll just convert it into another trap - I already have two outhouses filled with corridors with intelligence traps inside. Agents spend most of their time trying to break into those instead of my real base. (:

They will generally only shoot random things if you anger them with a trap near the beds/hurting somebody near them, or you have a LOT of heat to start with. Agents with any red bars seem to get pretty aggressive. Sometimes they'll even try to kill your construction workers. That's why I try not to have any murderous traps near the entrance of my base, just ones that make them scratch their heads. It doesn't matter much if a few body bags appear deep inside my base (particularly to catch prison escapees).
I think I'm gonna build 5 outside huts, put a door on the outside of each, and inside put a "do not press" button. That'll show em.
You can eventually move to a new, bigger island (shouldn't be a spoiler, they talk about it early in the game), so we'll just have to make do with fixing the mistakes the next time around.
Im really getting sick of doing stuff on the world domination screen, not hearing a warning, and coming back seeing my control room has been completely leveled
Maybe I shouldn't have started on hard. After the lab's stolen, there's always a small squad of soldiers on island. These beggers can see my traps, and they're tough, too. Because my minions aren't that bright, they attack a few at a time, and get mowed down by lead. :/
Argh, my brother started a new game on my computer ... and now my savegames are gone <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yeah those, exception/good soldiers are a real pain as they attack traps on sight, and kill construction workers, and valets on sight. Worst they always group together and kill my henchman very quickly.
IMPORTANT!!!!
It seems that the max population is at a default of 100 minions, but after some browsing I found some posts that explain how you set the maximum minion population.

Ive got a problem. I've completed the uber-looting and apparently I can buy a new island, which I desperately need to do because of a super agent. Help?
I have two super agents imprisoned deep in the depths of my lair, they break out occasionally but I just put them back in prison. I wish I could just execute them.
I offically hate this game and Im going to have it exchanged for something else.
I am finally recooperating after a devastating force of troops, and a super agent. I actually manage to get 3 points from 200 notoriety, then *TWO* SUPER AGENTS AND 6 EXCEPTIONAL VETERANS RAPE MY BASE. I go from 100 minions, with about 40 of them social/science/gaurd types (including spindoctors, scientists, and mercenaries) to.
10 minions, no hitmen, and my base is in shambles. Oh, and the super agents break out every 10 seconds to sodomize me more. This is rediculous, and Ive had it. Another game with great potential that is wasted on not taking things slowly with its huge leaning curve they expect you to know in the first 20 minutes.

OK this game is REALLY **** me off. I went back to it anyway. It sucked me back in, its like a bad relationship where the sex is awesome but your girlfriend is a total b*tch
Try a diffrent rout CWAG, Iv got all 100 of 100 people and 40 are mercs and they seem to handel any inflitration with ease cus normaly at least 20 are at base at all times along with the beds right next to the door after the traps
Commie, IIRC they only come through the floor if there's no way to WALK to the room. I'm guessing the room they keep appearing in is cut off from the rest of the base, right?
I've had people come through the floor even theres way in everywhere(its just every entrence to every room has a door). I had security cameras everywhere else expect my first armoury, added security cam there and had no intruders after that(they don't get past the front door, they get killed by my traps).

Drove to Fry's to pick this up, and though there was a spot for it... they'd sold out. Should give an idea of just how great this game probably is.
And yes, Commie. Start over now that you've learned your lesson, and try again. It should be easier now that you know what you're doing, and you can make fewer mistakes early-on.
Expect to hear me complaining about henchmen falling into traps later today, when I get the time to head over to CompUSA.

All the front rooms are non-heat producing in my base as a rule, that way I can let agents leave as often as possible.
