    I disagree. Things are constantly changing in NS, there's no reason the trend can't be reversed.

    Edit, just to clarify:
    It would be fairly simple to just make the games draw out even longer by increasing build/evolve/research times etc, but that wouldn't really be an improvement. Swifter gameplay <i>and</i> a stronger possibility for comebacks is what I would prefer.

    It's the Resources For Kills that "kills" the game length.


    That's why we have 5 min game ending fades

    or

    5 min shotty rushes on hives.


    However the RFK was intentionally added to allow the above "strats".

    It IS nice as it is, but i mostly agree that longer games are more fun for both sides. Is this idea a follow up of the NS supersiege idea? where you cant get to each other for 5-10 mins?

    Ugh, that's a horribly artifical way of making the game last longer. I'd prefer it if they removed RfK and tweaked the res system accordingly.

    True true... i would like to see a system that prevents the easy early wins though. As you say, the shotty rush / gorge rush / fade rush is pretty lame very early. They should put back the NS 2.0 statistics, they were perfect apart from certain map exploits.

    I agree with many people about the rfk's as now the good players win as if we aliens kill more marines in short time that = quick fade or visa versa. NOw back to say 1.04 if you wernt building the rts for the 'team' you wernt going to get anywhere fast also with that staement 'fast' rt's took a while for both teams and they both made efforts to hold them.

    The statistics i mean for 2.0, i mean these days fades are godlike but you can kill an onos with a single pistol round. What happened to the onos we once feared?
    Back in 2.0 both sides were MOSTLY even. These days marines always win in combat and aliens in NS mode.

    actually what i remember about 2.0 is that fades were almost unkillable due to tinytiny hitbox and better blink, and onosses, while extremely powerful with 2 hives (stomp) were quite possible to take down, you just needed to know where to shoot them.

    now i havent played B5 combat, so cant comment but i think aliens actually dont always win in NS mode. hahaha.

    The fearful Onos died after 1.04 fortunantly.

    God, it was so much fun to be an Onos in 1.04. At least in the 1 out of 50 games you got a chance to.

    Considering this poll has such a small sample, and pertains to such a particular group of players (pubbers who come to the forums make up most of the population here, and on top of that how active are they? Most pubbers simply like playing the game not talking about it), and also considering I haven't read one reply which even states the person knows what they are describing when they ask for "longer games"...

    I agree this is a small sample Forlorn, but its all there is so far.

    Its the community's fault for not coming out and voting on the future of NS. If something changes and they don't like it, they have no right to ****. Just like if you don't get out and vote for the presidential elections, you have no right to **** at how crappy the president is.

    I'd like to see this poll go on until there are a lot more respondants. I still however, see this as the best representation of the community we have.

    Actually forlorn, this sample is pretty representative Natural selection population. There are far more pubbers playing NS that there are people in competative clan play. I hope your not suggesting that the views of the minority that is clan players, is somehow more important?

    i remember a server back in the ns 1.4 days where they had 1 game on ns_nothing that lasted for about a week strait (people played in shifts) now that was an awesome game. and there was always some sort of action on the map, not just campers.

    Guys, 150 votes is nothing. The Unchained poll has almost 900. Besides that, the wording of the question is so generic(and the answers slightly biased) that you can't possibly use it as support for one suggestion or another.

    Because no matter how you vote, it's almost completely irrelevent. The two things you vote for are too ambigious. Imagine if you were flay and you see this poll:

    Remove every weapon and lifeform from the game except a LA marine with bolt-operated pistol and the skulk with parasite. That'll increase game time for sure!

    And there have been a million other poll threads about bunnyhopping, unchained chambers, etc. and nothing has come out of them.

    2) We are just adding to what we can do to make games longer so there shouldnt be any problem.

    Flayra intentionally shortened the game length. We are telling him we don't like that decision, and hopefully he will listen.

    I also posted some possible game changes that would lengthen the game. Some of the ideas are complete crap, but I think you'll get something out of it to add to this discussion.

    I voted a resounding "Yes."

    NS is more of a pubbie game actually, since virtually no offical clans truely exist that give not the best feedback....nerfing leap damage for some reason is one of them I thought of while I just typed this, leap is rarer then even parasite kill wise from what I've seen.

    What should a company do, please about 90% of the fan base or the 10%? They could just solve this with a mid ground, AKA, no RFK and some buffing for the Khaara, mainly that regen buff that didn't come as was told.

    Hopefully... Actually we have a good chance because technically command over the NS project is in Zunni's hands, unless I'm mistaken, and he's a pretty open minded guy. Just look at how he reform the I&S forum. It's great, the new ideas actually get heard.
